I started carp fishing a year ago and purchased a set of 12 foot Avid Exodus Pro in 3.25 t/c. (Cheap, 3 for the price of 2)
Have become quite disillusioned with these. They are heavy and seem far too rigid when playing fish close in. (Have been catching up to 30lb so far)
Then purchased a 12 foot Shimano TX-2 in 2.75 t/c. Very happy with the action of this. Only downside is the small reel seat that won't accept one of my reels (Prologic 8000). Before pulling the trigger on more of the TX-2, can anyone suggest other 12' rods in 2.75 t/c, or possibly a ‘soft' 3lb.

It won't be long before you want to upgrade the reels so maybe the tx2 are worth sticking with.

Look for a set of the old Daiwa Infinity X rods, unquestionably the best 2.75lb rod I've ever used. Very tempted to find a set and have them rebuilt myself.

Just be careful with free spirit as their build quality for factory built rods can be a bit questionable at times.

I've put some virtually new 3lb tc Greys Xflites up in the classified section. Well within your budget.

Not easy to find, but a set of Nick Buss X-lite's would, IMO, be a great choice.
