Just joined a syndicat that permits braid.
Have only ever fished with mono, so wondering what the benefit of braid mainline would be. (Already experimenting with braid terminal rigs and liking it a lot vs mono/fluoro)
I believe that the main benefit (braid) is finer diameter for a given breaking strain, but with higher risk of tangles(?).
Can anyone recommend me some to try? (Not looking for ultimate distance casting, since I fish mainly smaller waters and/or use a bait boat)

I hate it reason is it's so limp trying to tie a knot in wind is a nightmare I have often thought why do people use it I had to use it jigging for perch

Absolutely love braid , got put onto it 30+ years ago barbel fishing on the Severn - usedit ever since. Currently on Thinking Anglers SBX

Good for fishing weedy waters over mono 100%, better bite indication also, does show up in the water abit more some of the braids iv used have faded so normally use a fluorocarbon leader where permitted

Don't bother would be my advice, if you don't need it for distance casting, as you mainly fish small waters and use a bb, I really see no need.
It's banned on all but one of my local waters, and even on there, with some v experienced anglers as members, there's not one who uses braid.

I would always use a sinking braided mainline where the rules allow. The lack of stretch IMO is a major advantage over Fluro and Mono.

I would imagine it's just out of lazyness/cost, not wanting to switch to fish other waters. Braid is absolutely superior to other lines, I would always use it when I can. Feeling for drops and bite indication are way better.
I can't think of a reason you wouldn't want to use it?

Out interest, how far can you cast the sbx? I appreciate there are loads of other factors like rod test curve etc, weight etc but do you find it too heavy to chuck say 25-30 wraps?

I'm not the greatest caster but can get 90 yards out of it although its so heavy you can almost see it bellying, I don't fish really heavy leads so it will probably go further.........not in my hands though
