Hi, has anyone got any experience with the Harrison aviator blanks, particularly the 11ft 2.75lb test versions. I have a pair of ballista 10ft 2.75s. Would you know how these two blanks compare.

I have 12' Aviator Plus (3.6tc) and 10' Aviator (3.25tc) . . .12's were bought as 'range-ish' / solid bag / French trip rods and are horrible to cast but have a reasonable action - 10's are my go to allrounders for most of my UK fishing and for small / medium waters / bait boat work they are great. Totally different animals but much prefer the 10's in terms of versatility . . .

Sorry only just saw this . The ballista 10ft 2.75 is a beautiful blank which i still use. The aviator 11ft is a much stronger blank it has a 1k weave from butt to tip and has a very responsive tip. You cant compare the action its like chalk and cheese. Like the previous post the 10ft 3.25 tc is a stunning rod to cast play and land fish with. One thing though the blanks all perform differently with differing ring size/pattern.

Thanks for the reply's. I really like the 10ft ballista blank, I've been using it for piking over the winter in the edge and it coped fine.

Wouldn't mind a-bit more poke in the blank for my carping, casting small bags, hit and hold type fishing up to 70 yards tops. Was also considering the baby ballista in 3lb, that was until a friend mentioned the 11ft aviator blank.
I'll have to try and find somewhere to give them a go and see which I prefer.

For your kind of carping the 10' 3.25 maybe worth taking a look at - mine are paired with Daiwa Whisker 25QDs / 40mm Vortex Air guides and are feather light however don't be deceived; they can cast reasonable weight (small solid bags) with ease and have enough grunt to land anything that swims over here without feeling like mini-pokers . . . rapidly becoming my favourite rods (other than my 12' 2.25 Torrix!)

Off topic, but I treated myself to the ultralight in the end. Fished my first night in over four years under it on Friday. Really like it. The material is such good quality. It's quite bulky but I can live with that.

lol - spent 72hrs under mine last week for the first time since Autumn last year - from pissing rain and wind to sunshine IMO they just 'work' - good choice!
