Looking at getting some 'forever' rods over the next few months and always relied on Daiwa for reels without being let down, but not looked at their rods since I was a kid (wkn days lol).

So how do their rods compare to other rod brands these days? I'm looking at middle of range Infinity XT45 and Emblems XT45 so maybe versus Harrison Torrix or Free Spirit S range?

Even is the infinity worth the extra over the emblem?

I'm not after direct comparisons just want to know if Daiwa are worth the money?

I would go for Harrison Torrix if they are in your budget mate. Diawa make good reels and the rods are good too , but Harrison are better and made in the UK.

Daiwa used to make some fantastic rods on fantastic blanks. I have,nt seen any that come close to harrison or century for a long time. That is my opinion.

Thanks, think I'm down to the Torrix and infinity now in similar specs so will just need to see if I can find them racked up next to each other somewhere.

Dont buy a torrix before you try . some love them i hate them in the highest ever sold 12 ft 3.25 tc model other tcs are wonderful. You can always use the infinities to grow beans up.

I've had TE's they weren't great but this will be a smaller rod/lower test curve.

Maybe I should just buy more ballista's and be done with it lol

T.es are fantastic blanks when rung differently .

Excellent blanks you won't go wrong with the infinity's have had Harrison's torrix and t.es the Daiwas are lighter and crisper

I've had a couple of sets of Torrix TE in the 12' 6” model, lovely rods I thought.

However I've since had my head turned by Daiwa Rods mainly due to the Faster Action of the MT Profile and the Lighter Blanks.

I've currently got a set of Basia 12' 3.75lb which I really like, very little difference between them and the Infinity.

If I could get hold of a set of Basia or Infinty Blanks in 13' 3.75lb I'd love to get them custom built, not too keen on the factory finish on Daiwa Rods TBH.

I tried the torrix when i wanted an all round rod and everyone was saying how good the 3.25 were. Tried them and they felt horrible rods and quite a few people have thought similar. Haven't had a daiwa rod since the original infinity ld's came out (which i love and still have).

I still have a pair of original infinities in 2.25lb tc. I still use them occasionally.

Currently my main set of rods are 3lb tc torrix, I like them, but keep being drawn to something a bit more bendy like the acurix, although they seem quite difficult to actually find to buy.

I was also wanting some forever rods, but went a different route.
I bought some Nick Buss X-lites 2 3/4lb TC and had them rebuilt using Fugi titanium Torzite K guides, set up using the Fuji New Guide Concept.
Ten guides plus the tip. Absolutely love them so far.
