Can any of you Daiwa experts tell me which ones are more sought after ?
I'm talking about the old original square drives versus the re released hex drives, which ones are the best sets to own and why? Thanks in advance

The original square drives are the most sought after and therefore go for the most cash. The hex drives aren't that far behind value wise these days and I would challenge anyone to tell the difference in use.
The reality is that the value comes mostly from the Hearn effect. The prices have pretty much topped out so not really worth buying as an investment.
The early 5000Ts were higher spec, you can still get parts easily for them and they go for about a third of the price! I sold my SS years ago for more than they were worth to me and still use 5000/6000Ts

Yeah the square drives were the most sought after but both are as good as each other and you can pick them up but as said not a great investment anymore.

I have three sets of diawas for short range (5000t), medium range (6000t) and Basias for long range/France. I find myself using the 6000t's more these days with .40 line in summer for weed fishing and 16lb Fluro in winter, excellent work horse reels that probably will out live me!

Prices of ss3000's have slumped a bit recently, they aren't as cool as they once were, everyone seems to have moved on to GS reels now. But they aren't making any more, I certainly expect the price of them will only go up.
The only reason to ever own them is if you love old cult reels though. They're still all coffee grinders.
