So I've been feeling all a bit nostalgic of late, ironically I think it has something to do with joining the local golf club where I fished the lake in the middle as a kid. 1st double, 1st night, 1st 20 the lot.
Back then (too many years to count) I remember my pride and joy was my Fox Ultra bed chair, Nash 50inch canvas and a pair of Fox Micron STs, the original orange labelled ones
I've been on the hunt for a 2nd one for such a long time having come across 1 for sale a few years ago, sadly not seen one since..
So... a long old story to ask this question, did the ‘newer' white labelled ones have the same, super low tone the orange ones did?

From memory the sound changed when they went from a split to moulded looking speaker.
The silver writing non moulded speaker had the same smooth, low sound as the orange.
Hard to describe but hope that made some sense!!!

There's one on eBay now one of the first one's no speaker cover gpo speaker showing, the silver labelled one's have pizzo speaker these are the one's I use both STs and SXs ,I do have a orange labelled SX the silver one's are not as loud , the orange one's sound wise are very similar to my optonics super xls

Yep, the original SX's and standard microns (equivalent of the later ST's) had GPO speakers and sounded amazing, especially the lowest “duck quack” setting. After that when the writing turned silver/white they changed to piezo speakers, which always sounded a bit tinny to me. Then they smoothed off the front of the alarms (the best looking microns in my opinion) but can't remember what speakers they used, possibly still piezo's? Then after that they changed to “Cone” speakers when the NTXR and MXR+ ranges were launched. They still use the cone speakers in the current ranges, including the RX+ and the MX.

Yep, there's a couple of different spec orange label available one with a faulty speaker, I pmd the original poster about them yesterday.
I'm fairly sure Daletronics could sort out any issues with them, might even have a speaker cover, guess it depends how far you want to go and what you want to spend.
