Can anyone recommend a very strong rod for around £75 each max

And what mono line should I go with

I've snapped my ngt 6ft profiler rod today with very little pressure

I'd appreciate some recommendations TIA

Any decent brand rod should be pretty strong...although for that sort of money I'd be looking at something like a TX2 with full double leg eyes which I find are much more durable than singles. In terms of line gthd is strong and abrasion resistant or gardner hydro tuff.

No rods are indestructible if you dont treat them correctly. For you budget I'd be looking for used Tbh, as cheap rods tend to have poor quality fittings

And can a 12ft rod take more pressure then a 6ft rod

I was literally testing my leadcore to mono knot held the line with my hand whilst pulling the rod and it just snapped

I believe that with a fish on it would stood more pressure but yeah it snapped
.
I guess buy cheap buy twice they only cost £25 each but won't make that mistake again

That puts load on a rod in all the wrong places due to the angle of the line at the tip.

Probably putting an unnatural curve in the blank, sure fire way to break a rod. If you want to test knots then hold the line either side of the knot and pull. I can't stand ngt gear, the few bits I've tried have all fallen apart or just not been fit for purpose, but I also know they do some catfish rods that are very highly regarded by a lot of cat anglers. I wouldn't change using anything that you had to rely on made by them Tbh.
For £75 per rod you are still buying cheap in the grand scheme of things, definitely consider going down the used route, you'll definitely get more for your money that way

Test curve depends on what type of fishing you do. Up to 100 yards a 3 or 3.25lb should be all you need, past that or for pva bag fishing I would go for a 3.5lb but the action can also make a difference. The tx2 I mentioned are quite a fast action and under rated, the 3.25 will cast 150 yards in the right hands but are not the best for playing fish under the rod tip.

Just got my ngt 9fts out the loft exactly the same rod but 2.5lb tc done the same test and they didn't snap

Just getting it bit paranoid got my trip to local lake on Wednesday and there's a good few 30lbers scared it's gonna snap

I will invest in some new rods soon tho

Pulling pressure on the rod tip straight down towards the reel will snap it no matter what the test curve.

I spoke to one of the Nash guys about hearsay that their Scope rods were junk and snapped at the tip. They said they found one of the main reasons was that they were so popular with new anglers. A few of them admitted to pulling line off a tight clutch straight down towards the reel while setting up. The tip is not designed to bend back on itself and ‘ping', snaps pretty easy when bent the wrong way.

With respect the scopes had a fault and Nash pretty much accepted it by replacing 100s of tip sections that all failed at the same point. A £200 rod and a £20 rod should have different standards. The original Nash scopes were jank- but sorted now.

It didn't snap that time. Honestly it's a sure fire way to snap a rod, especially a lower end blank. Rods don't just snap. A few years ago now I used a tiny little 8 foot feeder rod to do a spot of Noddy bashing with maggots. The rod cost me £15 from one of the tackle shows. That day I landed a mirror of almost 27lb on it. It didn't snap because it was bending in the way it was designed to, not at an unnatural angle.

Why is it you have me fearing for the poor fish! (yes I know you probably said that in jest, but even so).
I'm not quite sure what you were doing if I'm honest, how could you possibly test the knot strength using the rod ?
Next time use a couple of pullers to test the knot strength, not the rod or reel. You can't exert enough force using the rod to test the mono/leader knot.
Might be worth doing this too.
Get someone/a mate to hold the line then bend the rod as if playing a fish hard to the point where the clutch gives. Then give your mate the rod and get him to do the same while you hold the line...I think you'll be surprised how little pressure hand wise is required to put the bend in the rod.

EDIT, and don't worry about your rods on the lake, you'll be fine, snapping one is rare and normally human error or a accident anyway
