I am after a clamp that will hold a light with around a 40mm diameter (round) with a thread that will fit into a bank stick. Any recommendations from anybody, can't seem to find anything, anybody using similar?

What about something from the butt rest market like the Bank Bug or ND butt grip which has the rubber band that stretches over a rod butt section or match/pleasure fishing with flexi grips, failing that perhaps a search for bike torch mount or scope mount for a light.

You'd have to check thread sizes but my 1st thought was a exhaust/hose pipe clamp. If you can find the right thread size you'd probably need to buy a longer bolt to screw into the bank stick.

You might also be able to get away with a 36mm seat box quick release fitting, depends how close to 40mm it is. They come with female qr fittings so you'd have to get a section of threaded rod to convert to male.

I have a Prestons side tray for Barbel fishing on my Korum S23, without any insert fitted the clamp is around 38mm bore- you might get away with Preston accessories.

That's what I was thinking Keith. I've got the Preston 36mm fittings on my seat box, I wasn't sure on the size but there is play and they can be manipulated a little too.

Try searching for "cycling light clamps" on Ebay. There is a vast range from bolt on to just silicone bands etc. Doubt any would have a 3/8ths thread though, but a bit of modification to the bankstick and some 3/8th rod something could be made to fit.

Clamps in all variations, would love 9ne with a 3/8 inch bps thread. I notice Preston's do an adjustable bank stick thingy, might be able to modify this?

Following on from my last, buy a 3/8th inch bolt, and a small strip of Aluminium off Ebay and cut the aluminium to shape and bend it to fit partly around the light after drilling a hole for the bolt to pass through. At the ends of the Aluminium strip just bend it back at both ends to form a hook. And then all you need is a silicone band to go round the light and secure under the hooks on the aluminium strip.

I was thinking about something similar to that Zack if I go down the custom made route. I found a bivvy light clamp and thought I may be able to modify that by fastening my light to it with a couple of large O rings

What about just attaching using those adjustable cable/pull ties that click into a recess. Should be ideal?

You'd need a 1/4 camera adaptor on your bankstick and you can use this type of thing maybe?
