I like these hooks, so much so that I sometimes use them for bottom fishing. I'm wondering, given that people use them and assumedly land big fish off the top with them, there is no issue using them on the deck, in terms of strength?

I used to use some Kamasan fly hooks given to me by my Grandad for carping when I was a lad and had no issue, surely these will be plenty strong enough?

They would be fine. Prob up gauge if fishing snags.

They're a perfectly good bottom bait hook. The father in law used them with braided hooklink and did well using them.

I'd just bare in mind that people generally use a lighter TC rod and a more balanced setup when floater fishing and play fish accordingly.

good point, I use nothing more powerful than 2.75lb tc.

When I was tying trout flies we used to ping the hook in the vice to check it
If it didn't ping it was rejected as it was weak
Should try it with carp hooks at some point lol

I think they are VERY similar to the Fox S2 Kuro and those were great hooks for general use.

As above, don't use floater or "flota" hooks for snag fishing. I've had a Nash floater hook open up on me pulling one out of the reeds on 15lb mono.

No reason you couldn't use. When I was a kid I used to float fish for carp using side hooked chickpeas with a size 10 hook, catching carp up to 20lb.

Key thing I think with hook size is to match the hook to the bait size. I wouldn't use a size 10 hook with a 16mm or larger pop-up for example.
