Threaten them with some five spice?
To be honest it's funny this thread should appear today as I was on the bank last night and this morning and one of the Moorhens on the lake had zero respect for any of my gear, he/she just trampled over my rods, through my line setting off the bite alarm multiple times and even climbed my rod pod once, but fell off and didn't try it again. No idea what has got into them! Not normally that bad though.
I've never known one to be so blase about the situation in front of it before.

Take some extra loaves of bread and if there's no one else fishing walk down other swims and Chuck the bread in

Feeding the wildlife is banned on my club waters. One of many stupid rules which seem counter intuative. You can't feed the ducks. Neither can you do anything to stop them eating your expensive and carefully placed boilies. Ridiculous.

It was hen mallards seeing off coots and diving on me last night. Not particularly successfully but they didn't half splash about trying to dive down.
