i've just had some very expensive 10ft custom rods made and im looking for either a 3 rods holdall or single sleeves+quiver.

I've looked through pretty much everything out there and most of them all read the same, 600d outer fabric etc etc.

i want whatever has the best padding and toughest outer so if you guys can recommend either a 10ft holdall or quiver+sleeves or both that would be great.

I was looking at the solar SP 3+2 holdall although the outer material looks great the padding inside looks really poor so think im ruling that one out

I found the sonik sk tek compact 3 rod sleeve decent thick enough padding and with plenty of outer storage pockets

Another vote for the Sonik SK tek holdall, I like that the middle rod goes in the other way so not as bulky around the reels. Good set of pockets for distance sticks etc and I have a marker rod in a thinking anglers sleeve attached to the straps on the outside.

I use speero for nearly all my luggage but for my rods ive always used cotswolds. Its very expensive but i personally dont think there is anything better you can buy. They do 10ft holdalls as well. I love solar but wasnt very impressed with the luggage, padding seemed very cheap.

I've got the Sonik 3 rod holdall as well and it's perfect for the job. Also have the Korum 5 rod version that works just as well.

Cotswold Aquarius

Had Speero and Cotswold and now have Korda dark kamo and it is superb,I had only just switched to Thinking Anglers when the Korda came out.As soon as I saw it in the shop I had it,so well made and thought out.The padding and protection on the rod bags is really good but not as bulky as the CA Trident dlx bags

How does the internal padding on the korda compared to the cotswold stuff? I use speero for my 12ft rods and really like their stuff but nothing for a normal 10 footer

The padding is very good,it seems thicker than the CA especially on the dividers.I really like that even the velcro tabs that hold your rods are a nice thick piece of neoprene

I've a Trakker 5 rod holdall for when I need various options, and a korda two rod holdall with sleeves for being mobile - both are lovely setups.

One thing that struck me is how much padding there is. For me, I am sure our rods don't need this kind of padding, unless going on loads of trips abroad - even then, rods etc are built to take some knocking about.

My question is: are there any holdalls with minimal or no padding? This will save a huge amount of space and faff - which I am now after.

I went down that route - two smashed butt ring later I have gone back to padded.

currently use a 12ft korum sleeve for my 10ft rods. loads of padding & much much easier to take in & out. god padding & very light.. No outside pockets but fits perfectly onto an ESP Quickdraw quivver that holds all of that stuff.

not sure how the other brands are set out but look for a sleeve that has the zip up the top of the rod & not the reel side. So much easier & quicker to put the rods inside it. I have a chib sleeve for my 12ft rods which is reel side & I have to lay it on the ground when putting the rods in it.

Aqua by far the best I've had. Also have a solar undercover one that's nearly as good but things just don't fit as well imo

Mate, thank you for the informative and insightful feedback, really appreciated.

I'm definitely guilty of trying to cut back on every bit of what I take, and things like this just need to be part of the kit. I'll stick with what I've got.

I'd recommend the 12ft version of the Nash ,double rod skin,they do a 10ft version also..You can get another single padded sleeve to clip on it as well..so it can be a 2+1 set up ,or a utility rod added.

Best thing about it,is its a 'reel first ' sleeve ,I'd not use a sleeve or holdall if it was a rod first ,sleeve ...
