Not looking for spots. Just any info that would help there. Boat launches, access to the night zones.
Were there poisson chat or silure ? Any info really. Better to be fore warned as they say.

A mate of mine used to fish it yearly but he hasn't fished it in probably over ten years I remember some stuff he mentioned to me, he used to take the misses and kids and holiday on the campsite to the South of the main lake but it's probably around ten years or so now since he last fished it, in the afternoon/evenings he said he would fish to the Hydro platform column bases from the campsite and I know he caught some from these areas, he also met a French guy who did a bit and had his own boat moored and went with him on occasions/days to the North end channel, I'm sure I remember him saying that it was an area that looked like old abandoned military type properties/buildings on the waters edge and they caught some around the channel entrance and into the channel, I think access for boat launches isn't an issue quite a few marinas and moorings around the lake.

Carpstar. `good info. Those military buildings are part of the Airforce base to the NE of the lake.
The West coast of the lake is generally the deeper side, most of the fishing is on the East bank where the oil rigs are.

FFS - why drop the lake name on a public forum. Gives the game away. Can't people do their own research nowadays

Searching web/forums is nor research?

I'd bypassed this thread as it was just another discussion about a French lake. Rather than the OP giving the game away, it's your post that's piqued my interest. Off to Google now.....😂

How is asking others for info doing your own research. You're literally asking people for the info. Hardly research 😂

So only valid research is what you see with your own eyes? If you read about it it is cheating? You really got us into this lake now, better check it out properly... Anyone else got some good info?

So if you don't ask people who have been there, how exactly would you find out that kind of info? How else can you "research" this?

what else should I call it then, the 9000 acre West coast french lake. Have a word with yourself.
Its not like its on a secret list. Its been well documented for years and yes, Ive found that info but was hoping for some up to date info. Commonly known as research.
Ive spoke to the local department fishery team as well but they wernt very forth coming once they realised I was English.
And, its location and size will deter 99.9% of anglers ever visiting.

one of my favourite lakes, first fished it in late 90's and had fish to over 50lb but it can be a gruelling lake to fish.
Huge underwater currents when it's windy and it's pretty shallow in places (less than 4 feet deep even at 400 metres out in some parts).
Unfortunately, someone saw it fit to stock Wels Catfish several years ago and they have thrived, now wiping out all your baits in one sitting when they get into your swim.
On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10 it is without a 10 but this is due to the sheer size, very little night fishing zones, limited night fishing times of year, loads of pike anglers, duck hunters and literally billions of silver fish but the achievement of catching a 40 plus from here is mind blowing.
There are loads of access points which you can find on google maps but just go and have a go.
Don't use particle, use VERY large VERY hard baits otherwise you'll have no bait left in 2 hours after dropping your rigs.
Petrol motor is absolutely essential (use a small one so you don't have to buy a permit for it).
They did have a fish kill in early 2000's but like many lakes, there are survivors and I'm sure there must be some decent fish still in there.
It's the kind of lake you need to spend some serious time on. You could fish it for 10 years solid and still nly scratch the surface.
Amazing place. Would love to return one day.
edit - I only just realised my profile pic is a mid 40 from there from 2004 I think.

Nick, thats fantastic info, especially about the Silure. Really appreciate that.
Much of it concurs with info I already had so that great as it confirms that. Just good to know there isnt any major changes or surprises.
Thank you.
