Didn’t know him but have read countless things about him, and Micky Gray spoke about him a fair bit on his Korda podcast. Seemed like a proper character. RIP and thoughts to his family.

Fox have created products from scratch. Well fk me that's unexpected. I thought their whole product development team was just to copy every other companies products, slap a fox sticker on it, add 30% mark up and call it there own. I've lost count how many times they've done it. The Maple fire pans, the Fencyl landing net copy, the Cadac safari stove. The list is endless with them.

You could try Carcus in tottington. Small wild lake that’s completely overgrown, has pads covering half the lake, nobody fishes it although it’s on the BDAS books. All the fish in there are old and the club hasn’t stocked it for years. Everything in there is either an original or grown on naturally. Jet black fish, wild as you like, no real rules as it’s not policed.
There’s also Elton reservoir, whiteheads upper and lower lakes just outside Walsh as too. All wild and left alone. Just a few locals.

Think he’s a nob to be honest. One of those blokes who thinks he’s always right. Seen him down at The Approach several times and he always came across as arrogant. He may well be a lovely bloke but that wasn’t the impression he gave off in the times I’ve been around him.

I've only ever fished with Catmaster, and that was around 15 years ago when Colin Bunn was still involved. It was an incredible experience and certainly worth looking into. That said, my opinion is based on how things were back then. I know the company has changed hands since, so I couldn't comment on what it's like today.
We fished around Mequinenza on the Segre, and those familiar with the area will know spots such as the Blue Bin swim, the Town swim, Suicide Upper and Lower, and the Nature Reserve section. They were fantastic places to fish and produced some memorable sessions.
One thing I'd say is to be careful about the time of year you go. As it's a public river, you need to get to your chosen swim early to secure it, even though the catfish often don't become properly active until dusk. That usually means plenty of time spent sunbathing, relaxing, and enjoying a few drinks while you wait for things to kick off.
We also found the carp fishing from those swims to be relatively straightforward. A single halibut pellet flicked into the margins was often enough to get bites. The carp seemed to hold closer to the bank, presumably to avoid the larger catfish patrolling the deeper water further out in the river.

You can still find places that take you back 20 or 30 years if you're lucky enough and know where to look. Most of them are kept pretty quiet for obvious reasons, but they're still out there for anglers who appreciate that old-school style of fishing. That said, they're becoming increasingly difficult to find.
These days, around 90% of my fishing is done in Europe, purely because it still gives me that feeling of the good old days. It costs more, but for me it's worth every penny. Having hundreds of acres of water virtually to yourself, rather than sharing it with 50 other anglers, is something you simply can't put a price on.
Times have definitely changed, but in my opinion, not for the better.

Feels like Nash's finances have been at the centre of conversations for several years now. Are they really in such dire straights?
The common was stunning. I've a feeling that fish is about to see a lot more angling pressure after the release of this film. The D&B on every nash film drop is getting a bit boring now.

Has anyone else had issues with AD?
Long story short, I ordered the Nash Outboard from their website on 15/09. Normally I avoid AD like the plague, but I had a few birthday vouchers to use.
After five working days, I still hadn't received any dispatch confirmation, so I emailed their support team but got no response. I also tried calling customer services and sat on hold for almost an hour, only to be cut off when I finally reached number two in the queue.
When I eventually got through to someone, I was told the item had already been dispatched. Shortly afterwards, Angling Direct updated my order status to "Complete", but they still couldn't provide any tracking details for the DX courier.
I've now managed to secure a refund, although that's going to take another five working days to process.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with them recently? I'm amazed how poor their customer service is. It would be interesting to hear if its a common thing or just a one off.

Does anybody have a contact phone number or email address for Jon at Moulicent? I fished there back in 2008 and its the perfect place to take my son who's recently got into the sport. It appears the only way to get in touch is via Facebook, which unfortunately I don't have. Many thanks in advance.
