Not long returned from a session and am feeling rather wounded. Lost a good fish on my tricky syndicate due to a line failure. Snapped near the net down a margin trying to stop the fish going into a snag. Bites are hard to come by so being let down by my tackle has blown my mind. Been using GTHD 15lb for a while with no issues but today was the day it let me down. Iv lost all faith in it now and am looking for a new line with reels stripped already. Gravel pit, bars, weed, and big fish. Needs to cast and sink well but also withstand the conditions above. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

In the situations you describe then it's 0.40mm for me, currently using Gardner Pro Light Blend XM and not been let down, bit wiry but sinks well, I only use it for close in work so can't comment on casting distance but am sure it would be fine.

Yeh i think your right 0.35 just wasnt strong enough when I was in a hit and hold situation. Iv used the line for yrs but never had any issues in similar situations. Dont want it to happen again. I have a few spools of the pro blend in 0.40 in the shed but abit reluctant to use it. Line needs to cast well aswell. Alot of the fishing is upto 80-120 yards. Thinking of the 0.40 syncro. Heard its pretty good stuff or the gt80+ 0.40

ESP Synchro is a popular choice.
me personally its Big Game (not fashionable) i use the 15lb need a little bit of care to keep it behaving (if i didnt use SS2600 be less of an issue due to small spool)
not sure how it compares to other modern stuff but its been around forever
end of every trip cut the end tackle off and wind through fingers and its fine

I only use Big Game too, it's never let me down in 30 years of use - never seen any reason to change. use the 12lb Green version on both my Carp and Barbel set ups.
Not sure about not being fashionable thou - I can't think of anyone I know who does not use it.

If you've been using it for a while without issue then why change, could have quite easily been damaged by a mussel or pike.

Line probably damaged like mentioned below. Only takes a tiny nick in it and you would probably of never known it was there. 0.35 fine for hit and hold.

id use the 12lb if i could as it behaves better and i havent seen anyone else where i fish using it. as its pretty easy to tell as it is THAT green colour.
perhaps its people from a certain era when it was THE only good choice if sensor wasnt up to it.
