In order to make this quick drag do I just need to buy and fit the washers?

You have to either buy a quick drag cap (£20+) or there's a method which requires drilling the original cap.
You're better off selling them and buying some Okuma Inception 6000's instead, that are better reels and already have a good quick drag, faster retrieve, are smoother, have better line lay....flogged all my SS2600's after I tried the Okuma. The SS look better though, I'll give them that.

I wish they would do a folding handle on the Inception in the same way as the Custom Black 6000.

Carbon washers on their own will improve the drag speed marginally but only marginally - you need to purchase the speed caps to really create a decent QD (half turn or less from freespool to locked) - all my reels have Reel Kings SS2600 caps and Carbon washers . . .

I used Adrian foil4u on eBay you pay you then get his address send it off you get a message to say he's got it then you get another message to say on way back the price includes return postage I've spoke to him he's very helpful and a nice bloke

Done loads of these caps its easy enough, use a drill bit on the welds to take enough off to pop the 2 halves apart, remove the spring & replace with a tube of the same length.
I use a piece of old half inch ally bankstick, re assemble with a bit of araldite on the mating surfaces & clamp til set.

I have also done several of these.
I use these plastic spacers to replace the spring. M5 10mm OD, 8MM depth. Less than a pound each.

Just remember that you are only drilling out about 0.5mm from each weld, so go steady...
Prise the cap inner section slightly, if you have go e far enough it will start to come apart.
Don't force it, and if it's flexing but not coming apart you need to drill out a bit more...
