If you are taking hold luggage can't you just wrap your reels in a t shirt and then put them in your case.

I would definitely rather have them in a case than wrap them in a t shirt. Have you seen how airport staff treat cases, they just through them all over the place and pile them on top of each other so theres a lot of weight pressing down on your case. It dosent take much to bend a bale arm and some reels are £500 a pop.

I have a load of the ngt deluxe reel cases, they're pretty good and very cheap

I believe only one size for these ones and I can fit my shimano 1400 big baitrunners in them. Can't remember how much I paid but was only around £4.50 ish a case as I bought about 12 last time round. I liked my first set so got a load more to replace old cases and for new reels etc.

Or buy some cheap plastic lunch boxes off amazon or from asda with the clip on lids and put some bubble wrap in as well. The one i use for my daughters pack lunches is the perfect size for a big pit. You will need 3 but still a lot cheaper that a one from the tackle company. You wont get anymore protection than that.
I can't see the point of soft cases even if they are padded, only the way to fully protect them is inside rigid cases but I'm not sure if they exist.

Massive amount of overthinking going on, Baitman had the right idea, I've transported the odd bottle of wine like that and all sorts of things more delicate than a fishing reel
