Just bought a new battery for my RT4 off jamthebatteryman on eBay. It is the heavy duty one - 24500mah. Looks to be really good and charged up with no issues. However, when I put it in the boat as the main battery it switches on but then all the lights go out immediately and the boat is dead although the light switch is on. However, if I connect it to the back up lead on the boat it all works fine. If I put an original carplounge battery in both leads work with no issues. I can't believe this is a battery issue as it wouldn't work on the back up lead but I'm confused as to why it is happening. Anybody got any ideas pls?

Sounds odd did you check the voltage after charging is correct ?
I would ask is the seller.

Voltage was 16.7 which I think is correct. I will contact the seller and see if he has any ideas. Cheers.

Not surprised your confused, I would be
The fact both boat connectors work with the CL batteries implies to me that both sets of connectors are fine.
Only option I can think of is there's a issue with the new main battery connector and the boat main battery connector, which will probably be more worn due to more frequent use. Have you tried holding/wiggling the connectors to see?
Only other problem I can think of/remember was a reported issue if the boat was used without a backup battery connected at all times when in use.
When connecting the 24.5 as a main is there also a back up connected?
The RT4 FB forum may be of use.
Edit, other option may be faulty cells in the battery. Eg, car batteries can read full but fail on draw due to failed cells.

used mine many times without a backup battery in as i used large lipo batterys from hobbyking never had a issue with just 1 battery in .Dont know if they have changed the software on newer boats though

Not sure on the newer boats, not got one. CL actually issued a warning about not using a back up, it was some time ago, maybe a couple of years, think its on the FB group.
I have no personal experience of it, always used 2 batts.
