What's everyone's method for baiting the rivers? Need to find a way to keep the cost down so I'm guessing particle is the way to go with a few boilies chucked in?

In the past I have used a mix of mainly maize and tigers with some larger boilies in there too. 18mm+ to fend off the ravenous amounts of smaller fish.

Go to Poundland and buy their 2.5k bags for around £2:50 a bag and sweet corn £1 bag and vitalin around £6 for 2:5k bag and also Indian supermarket do all the seeds as well.
Everything apart from the vitalin soak & boil
Soak for 24 hours minimum
Boil for 30 mins
I'd even add jars of spicy curries into the particles and maybe swing a spomb/spod out that's what I used to do on the itchen in Southampton

I am using 18mm at the moment so that's all good. Can't seem to find any decent particle suppliers any more. Need to keep looking

Just remember if there are any otters in the river your fishing, putting lots of bait in not only draws the fish in but sadly the otters...

For me it depends on the amount of carp. My area on the river has low stocks nowadays plus otters so I've opted for a boilie only approach and not big amounts. Big hard baits that'll sit on the deck until they are found (hopefully). I did the mass bait strategy and tbh all it did was attract chub, bream and tench and as much as I'm sure there was a carp or 2 present they rarely got caught. If you can pick a spot that visible it makes it much easier to gauge what's going on. Good luck with it.
