I ordered a le gravier xl mat for a syndicate,the removable base should Velcro in.
It has Velcro on the bottom of the removable mat but not on the inside of the cradle to stick it to.its not a snug fit either.I rang CA and they said if I send it back they ll stitch Velcro into the cradle for me.To cut a long story short DPD have been a nightmare.
My thought was if I float the mat in bad weather without the base secure (which obviously aids buoyancy) it might be a pain.the mats have foam sides but they're heavy.
I'm looking to get fishing for a week or so in a couple of days and rather mess about sending it back I wondered if there's another good way to fix the Velcro?ideally needs stitching but that ain't in my skill set.
Is there a really good waterproof/adhesive other than diy types of glue that ll do the job?
Or another way of securing it so I can still remove it?
Maybe I'm being to fussy

You can get velcro with a self adhesive on the reverse.

Self adhesive velcro will only be as good as the glue so would probably fail.
I'd suggest a little smear of mcnett seam grip, or aquasure, onto a piece of velcro. that will be perfect.

If you get the proper Velcro brand 50mm stuff then the adhesive is very strong if stuck to a clean, smooth surface. Can't vouch for it being resistant to water though, I doubt it would be.
Did they just forget to sew fabric to the bottom? Could you take it into a local dry cleaners and ask them to stitch some in? I think being stitched is the only non-bodge option.

Apparently they don't put Velcro on the bottom of the le gravier mats anymore and from what they've told me the reason the removable pad on my mat has the Velcro on is probably because it's an older one.
I can't speak about the standard mat but the xl is a heavy bit of kit.
There's a duck pond round the corner I'm half tempted to drop the cradle in there to see if it sinks

That's a good shout thanks.
I would have preferred it stitched but I won't be removing it every session,failing that there's a shoe repair shop not far away maybe they can stitch it.

Some fish a certain size have to stay in the water,that's ok with retainers etc for photography
But my thinking was if they need sores etc treating on the body it would be easier off the mat if that makes sense.

Would the fish not keep the mat down in the cradle? I think you might be worrying over nothing here, I would just give it a go an and see how you get on.

Yes it would mate while it's in there.

I have the same CA mat and have no issues with it at all. You'll be able to do everything you need to do in or out of the water, and it'll float.
