Hi all just ordered 3 of the daiwa 5000t reels. I'll be looking for some spare spools eventually. Probably the western ones woth the upgraded clip. I'm aware the line clip on the original spools have the original line clip. So can you fit your own line clips on these spools? I see some lineclips on ebay. Are these any good and easy to fit?

They are easy ISH to fit once you get the nack for it, little bit fiddly but easy enough. Just do it soe here you will find the tiny bits you inevitably drop.

Lots of threads on here on daiwa replacement line clips, I have contributed to many so search my posts.
The replacement clips work OK but are very fiddly to fit.

OK so my tourneys have arrived and I've ordered some custom reel king line clips to fit when they arrive. But I'm planning a session for tomorrow. But the shark tooth line clip is damaging my line when putting it in the clip. Does anyone have a idea on how to use the line clip without ot damaging the line or any info how to make a makeshift clip until my others come ? Tia

I have wrapped marker elastic around the clips in the past, this helped me.
Been trying to find replacement line clips for my Emcast Plus 5500's.
When I had them serviced last year by Reel-Tech I asked Nick if he could replace the line clips but he couldn't find any that fitted.

what annoys me is the 6000t come with a proper clip out the box, its actually ridiculous ! I have the custom reel king ones on my original spools (now using Weston shallow spools which are a god send), you may need some spare springs, very easy to lose them when trying to fit. For the line clips themselves, there is a a bit of play in them and I still noticed some minimal damage to the line when testing. I did buy the FR customs ones first but they were very tight, in hindsight I think probably better option.

The reel king clips turned up. It was very fiddly to do but with help from the Mrs and a few hunts for the springs after they kept jumping out hitting me in the face and disappearing I finally have 3 new clips. Thanks for the tips though

I did mine in the shower, shut. Covered up drain. Pain to find when they spring off

In one of the other threads I replied on I mentioned that i tied some cotton to the spring so it couldn't escape
