Hi all I'm looking but a actor plus compass boat with sonar and was wondering if anyone has one and what the sonar is like?

A friend has one and was using it on a trip to France recently. It's a basic sonar but does the job perfectly. He's still trying to work out how to set way points etc but the sonar was fine.

I saw a guy using one of these in the next swim to me recently. Never having owned a baitboat myself, out of interest I got talking to him and he seemed very happy with it. I asked if I could have a play and come the end of his stay he showed me how to use it and let me drop a bait on a spot I had marked with my Spom and Marker rod. I sent the boat out with my marker float and dropped the lead and float when the line pulled tight to the clip. He immediately reached over and pressed the way marker button on the handset.
Holding my clipped up rod, I then sent out the boat with a baited rig to the marked spot, and the boat beeped, stopped and dropped my rig before the line tightened to the clip. In fact it was almost a rod length short.
It makes me wonder just how accurate the GPS is on these baitboats.
Has anyone else tried this?

well I can tell you that your bait boat GPS is accurate to between 1 and 8 Feet

Just after info on the sonar capability guys not GPS I see they do a colour version also and was wondering if anyone has this and what there like?

The bloke was asking about the sonar not the GPS anyway....
But I have the GPS and it's decent and as Gerry said accurate to within 1.5m

GPS is only as accurate as the number of satellites its connected to - 1-2M radius is fairly standard; not sure about Actor GPS as don't have one on my mk4i. Either way if you have sonar and you want to be super accurate mark the spot short and only drop when you're right on the money . . .

I have the same model with the sonar. It does the job. Tells you the depths and what the bottom is like. I never take much notice of the fish icons though.
It's much better than the lucky fish finder sonar I had on my first little actor bait boat.

Does it show up weed like it does with a deeper? Also are there 2 different sonar options on them (black scale or colour options)?

I have mine in greyscale. Seems to work for me. I always double check the spot with a lead anyway. Think there is videos on YouTube showing the sonar.
