I've just received this today, one of my lakes has got a sack/retainer ban so thought for £12.99 it was worth a punt, throw this over the netted fish while I sort scales and Matt/ camera out, I prefer to use a shallow mesh on my net so thought this might be handy, simple idea and packs down to nothing, edit ( I've never personally had a fish jump out of the net but I know lads that have,) hopefully this will prevent this happening

I think they will be useful, not necessarily to stop a fish jumping out but if the net slightly submerges for whatever reason it should hopefully buy enough time to rectify the situation!

I have unfortunately had a 30+ common jump out of net a few years back luckily I caught it again a few months later! this looks like an interesting item for those with a shallow mesh (like the fisheries own one i had to use), not so sure on a deep mesh where you have the net higher off the water with the pole stuck in the mud/silt (for those that want to look carpy ).

If used as suggested in this pic then I can't see a fish ever jumping out.

No problems with the picture shown👍🏻some lake's however just have wooden platforms for swims where the net handle would be just resting on top with net in the water, in this instance I recon the net cover may come into its own

It's a solution to a 1-1000 preventable error.

I haven't had it happen in over 40 years but know it does. I can't really see the point unless you are that keen to get one back out on the spot - I never am. I concentrate on the one I have - most of my fish I will unhook in the net and only leave it in the bottom sulking whilst I set up a tripod if I want a photograph - then weighed on the way back in - the least faff the better . I also have a dobbins net that the block means it is raised anyway on a stick.

If you consider the problem that it's trying to solve, is that recently caught fish being restrained in a mesh will go apesht- so this solves the issue of them going that mad that they won't try and leap out in a traumatised state.

Like I say, it's not for me and can see why some people want extra insurance- but we should all think about the issue we are trying to solve, rather than buying a solution.

I would imagine any lake that supplies their own nets won't allow these, I certainly won't.
As already said, they only solve an avoidable problem.

Any fishery that supplies their own nets are doing so for 1 reason and 1 reason only,to stop the spread of any diseases,khv etc and if they supply nets they will more than likely supply sling and mats too...its a cost they could certainly do without but its a cost they see worth paying,so the likely hood of fishery owners that supply nets allowing these is slim to none

I just imagine these things all crumpled up in your bag, would be a right faf trying to get it to fit. I can't say they solve an issue I've ever had, but I'm sure they are of some use to someone.

They couldn't have made that more useless if they tried.

Do they also offer bags in various prints for the net cover?

Showed the vid to the wife to make a strong case for me not spending all the money on useless stuff. You see that woman?!?! I would never buy that!
