With the variety of bedchairs on the market nowadays can anybody suggest one that is preferable for side sleepers. Struggling to get a decent nights kip with my Solar SP C tech bedchair.
All well and good trying them in a shop for 5 mins and they seem to be 'the one' but that doesn't help when on the bank and finding out that they are not 'the one'. Thnx

Look at getting yourself an inflatable camping mattress it will improve the comfortable of the current bedchair . I use 2 of them under my sleeping bag on my current fox mk2 flatliner and never get back ache . I've Wasted a lot of money over the years buying and selling different bedchairs trying to find a comfortable one without success but for the last 4 years now have never felt the need to change bedchair since using inflatable mattress on my current one .

Totally agree with this... a SIM seems pretty much essential if you are a side sleeper on todays firmer beds. You also need to experiment with the level of air fill but once adjusted to your requirements you can say farewell to dead shoulders and aching hips

Before you start messing about changing beds trying to find a comfortable one.
Have you tried unlacing the one you've already got?
I do this on all of mine now because like you I'm a side sleeper and yes they are all too hard these days.
Try unlacing and missing out one pair of eyelets where your shoulder would be and another where your hip will be.
This gives you a lot more cord to play around with and loosen off if required.
Then buy a cheap sim from go outdoors and you can then play around to get the bed absolutely spot on

Not an option on the Solar as the cord is only at the feet and head ends. Its the middle on these that has very little if any give. Tried a sim with little improvement tbh

Look for a bedchair with a High density foam matrass i'm also a side sleeper and have the Fox duralite very happy with it, Trakker also have a few beds with a High density foam mattras .
Imo if you need a sim you bought the wrong bedchair

Sim is not just for comfort,it also stops cold air coming up through the bottom of the bed.The only thing the duralite has going for it is its light

SIMs are def 'an' answer - you just need to play with the inflate level.
ALL bedchairs are uncomfortable IMO and I've been through many in the futile search for bedchair nirvhana - fact is I don't think it exists; especially as you get older / achier / less flexible. I sleep on both my back and side and think the new flat and rigid bedchairs are def more comfy than the old saggy nash indulgence varieties however anyone that says its as comfy as their mattress at home is either talking complete sh*te or has a dreadful mattress . . .
Have settled on the Wychwood Tactical Xs (standard and compact) for some time now (with SIMs) but primarily for the weight saving - was looking at SP CTechs in my continued quest however I now may not bother!

Sonic axs duralloy level bed with 5cm SIM currently doing the business for me. Different leg setup to most beds but it works. Light and comfy. I'm a side sleeper who has suffered with a bad back in the past but no more😁

Oh my god - i am a bed chair bore (as well as many other things)
I wanted something light (I have a heavy one for occasional longer trips)
So took my old nash sleep system and. had the zip on bag (1 layer only) recovered (pathetic)
Had a strap made and took out the elastics
Took out the mattress ridiculous 2inch fat bloke squashed foam
Replaced this with snugpak sim and then had that cover made
Ripped off the head end legs and replaced with a single leg
Its comfy enough for overnighters, weighs less than a mini metro and I doubt it cost me more than a small semi detached in Middlesorough - I need to get out more

I'm a side sleeper too...
I haven't changed or messed around with lots of bedchairs ,but I have a good amount of sleep time using small tents n tarps anyway ...for me the finest SIM I have used or works for me is the Theremarest neo air venture,its a pure quick blow version,not self inflating, it's good ..and I can get off my bedchair pretty rapid using it as well..
I did rate the multimats ,pure SIM,sadly I can't ,I had three of them on the trot ,all lost air and deflated, other than that, were really comfy,...oh and customer service wasn't good either..

I bought a standard whycwood tactical.
It's a cheap.and **** bed. But it's wide enough and very light.
It's rock hard. Awful.
Bought a Helio sim and it's a.miracle. indulgence level comfort back
And hardly any more weight.

i have never felt cold through my duralite mattress.and i also fish in freezing temperatures, with my previous bedchair: Trakker oval levelite tail never felt cold through the mattress either,
