do users use the small side poles that come with it if so can you leave them on to pack away or do they have to come off on first impression seems to be a lot of poles to mess about with

I leave all the poles on the brolly when packing up - just make sure that the pointed end doesn't pierce the brolly. Unless I'm staying put for a couple of days or it's super windy I don't bother with the side poles or rain gutter. I use a Tempest through the winter, (I'm just about to switch back to my Solar SP brolly) and I would say they both take a similar amount of time to set up. Brolly is about half the weight though!!

let me put your mind at ease
when it arrives you put the little poles ih their pockets they stay in forever and swing down when you erect it same with storm poles they can stay on too if you want to use them
also the little front peak unless its raining dont bother with it
oh and its much faster to put up and down than a Tempest too your gonna love it mate

I see thanks for that leaving all the poles on will make a hell of a difference I had visions of having to put all poles on and taking off every trip it arrived today and when I saw all the poles I did think there's got to be an easier way as it's had rave reviews including yourself

Have to agree , connect the poles and fan it job done. No storm ones no gutter poles. With the 100t I don't even use the tension strap. Literally 20-30 seconds to put up.

Not so sure about that. I've an Avid brolly with fibreglass side poles in pockets. All you do is push the centre boss onto the short pole and stand it up, and push a few pegs in if it's breezy. I'm sure it's quicker to put up than my V2 brolly, but a bit immaterial really if one takes a minute longer than the other, they're both pretty quick.

the absolute reverse is true in my case but then I have owned BOTH so base my opinion on my own actual experience by the time I had put the poles together on the tempest
I would have pushed my brolly pole up the built in short poles would drop down boom its free standing before I would have time to fan out the tempest
and I would have had the 4 pegs needed on a normal day

I have the same experience and results as you Gerry. I liked my Tempest but find the Solar brolly quicker and easier to put up and pack down. Probably not much in it to be honest but from personal experience I find the Solar brolly better for me personally

Told by a friend to measure from bell cap to tip of rib it is 60 inch thought it was a 55 it's a bit big tbh for what I need
I already have a tempest which I think is a 60 was looking for something smaller
even a 50 would be ideal don't understand wychwood not making a 50 anymore
The Aqua is a good size but a ridiculous price

don't think the tempest can be beaten tbh for a quick erection
