I have joined a new water where I need to cast at distance.
Braid is banned and so are leaders so looking at the best mono line that I can use straight through.
Any suggestions?

I have the Fox exocet pro in 23lb (0.4mm) which I use when no leader is allowed. It pre stretched too so you don't get that springy feeling when giving it the beans...you might get away with the 20lb but I haven't tried it..

I've not used the original (Ive been on Gardner pro since its release but fancied trying something different after issues spooling up) but from reading that got changed at somepoint as wasn't as good as the 'original' exocet. The pro is lovely line, really supple and spools up nicely. I have found it needs 2 or 3 casts to get rid of any memory but after that it's like silk.

Surely something like a tapered mono would offer the best distance. Lomgchuch 10-30lb I've seen put 200 yards with a 13ft rod.

For me it's Gardner Pro.
And this is a quote from Terry Edmonds made in 2018 on lines he recommended then (don't forget he is now with Korda)

After sorting out the technique, line will play a massive part in how far you cast. What you are looking for is the supplest line available, with controlled stretch, and strong enough to land the fish safely.
Of course, there are places where leaders are banned; this is where we have to look at level line casting (without leaders). In this situation we are looking for the balance between a line strong enough to take the shock of the cast and thin enough to cast a long way. A balance that is hard to achieve.
Also, remember; the weakest part of this set up will be the knot attaching the mainline to the rig, so good strong knots are advised. Grinner or Palomar are favourites of mine.
Line recommendations for this: the excellent Gardner pro blend, but the ESP XT non loaded version has also proved excellent.
If leaders are banned, Fox, except the tapered line version is the best available at this current time.

Tels recommended a few different mono's since then.

I fished 2 weeks ago and both the lads with longchuck had a nightmare with wind knots and frap ups..it did settle down towards the end of the weekend and after a few fish..but it put me right off..they both ended up with shock leaders on at least 1 rod.

I loved the Gardner pro in 12 or 15lb..but the XM stuff was horrible wirey stuff..it was like a completely different line.

Put it this way; with 3.25lb rods, Shimano 7000 XTA Beastmasters, 15lb Gardner Pro, 3.5oz lead, no leader I'm hitting 150yds on a big chuck. That has been measured over the field as someone on the syndicate didn't believe how far I could cast when I saw a fish show.
