It seems that CM90 is in pretty short supply at the moment. Anyone have any idea why?
Not wanting to be wasteful, I am thinking about removing the line from my spools and putting it back on the other way - so what is now connected to the backing will be switched around and be at the "business end". Any issues with this? Obviously it's not seen the light of day since being put on (last season), not sure if this is potentially problematic, if it'll be all frizzed up or compromised in some way.

I find eBay a good source for harder to find items as lots of smaller tackle shops use it as their online sales platform. Seems to be quite a bit of CM90 available there.
Haven't tried swapping the line over, but don't see why it shouldn't work. Think you'd need to swap the line onto a different spool otherwise you'll run the risk of no end of tangles and twists if you try taking it off and then back onto the same spool.

Thanks Nick. Yeah, there's a few here and there on eBay, it still seems a bit sparse which is why I was wondering. I agree that onto a different spool first and then back onto the original one - Spool-2-Spool-2-Spool is a bit long and daft for a thread title!

Don't put it back onto the original spool or it will be the same way around as you started!
Needs to be just Spool 1 > Spare spool if you want to reverse the line.
So you'll need at least one spare matching spool for your reels that you can add backing to and then transfer the line onto.
So say you have three reels with cm90 on currently (Spool 1,2&3) and one spare spool, then this is what you'd do:
Spool 1 (full) > Spare spool (a spare spool with backing)
Spool 2 (full) > Spool 1 (now free of CM90 but with the backing left on)
Spool 3 (full) > Spool 2
You'll then be left with three full spools with the line reversed and Spool 3 with just backing.

no problems reversing your line.
get some old line and top up the spool on your reel now to just below the the lip, get a spare spool and load that spool with your line,the backing you put on will now be at the bottom and all the unused line will be sitting perfect on the spool.
repeat on the other spools

Possibly the best way, if a little impractical, would be to walk the line off across an empty field, cut the line and wind it back on from the used end. This would help take out any twists. Probably easier if you can rope someone else in to help.
I've filled my second set of reels with used line from my first set, just winding it straight off one and onto the other. It seemed to work OK, but probably wouldn't do again, I think it introduced some twist and casting distance seems slightly down, though I did go from 12lb to 15lb, so maybe a combination of the two.
