The mrs wants to get me a birthday treat for a weekend fishing somewhere with accommodation. I was looking at little horse shoe but it doesn't give much away in terms of what the fishing is like and what's in there. Not fussed on size just don't want somewhere that is rock hard
Are any of the lodges in better areas of the lake? There's always more productive swims on any lake but I've no knowledge on the place at all

I guess you're talking about LH in the Cotswold Water Park. If so, I fished it on a day ticket when Watermark Fisheries owned it. About 8 years ago I'd guess, before it had lodges on it. Was quite a tricky lake then. As I was coming on, I talked to a bailiff who was leaving, he'd done a couple of nights and had nothing. Me and my lad just did the day, both fishing 3 rods and also blanked.
There's a few lakes with lodges in the CWP and surrounding area, Cherry Lakes & Whelford Pools to name a couple. Never dabbled on any of them though.

If its Little Horseshoe in the CWP it's seen a few changes over the years I used to have exclusive fishing on that lake 20 odd years ago just after Milestone fishery gave it up and had it netted, they had missed some of the carp as it was pretty deep on the larger side of the lake down to over 30 feet in places then around 22 feet on the tear drop side which was wildmoorway side, it was one lake in them days the middle causeway ran the other way to what it does now with a gap at the NW end of the causeway near the little outcrop/point still visible making it one lake, this later got closed off.
If you google it now imagine the causeway ran from the south west Island lodge in a line to the island in the other half off the lakes you can see part of the causeway now which looks like a plateau in front of Willow lodge it must be a good feature to fish to, the other side of that plateau is where it used to drop to near 30 feet and around about where I caught my PB tench still to this day caught by design on a float rod sweetcorn nicked on the hook stood on the causeway fishing a lower visible shelf about six feet down between two sets of Lilly beds.
I lost the fishing after a few years when they developed it into a syndicate lake for carp on the lane side and I think general course fishing on the other, they did this by filling in the last bit of causeway, they stocked a few hundred carp for the syndicate but I believe that soon fell through then you used to be able to buy a 24 hr ticket from the Tackle Den but I believe a lot of the fish grew legs or were getting predated on etc...
What I can say is the red signals were the worst I have ever encountered hopefully they are under control these days but with trout lakes all along wildmoorway I'm guessing they're still abundant there must be some good depths still it looks nice and plush for a Birthday treat but I preferred the lake how I remember it.

Yeah, I think Mr Carp & Penning did a Thinking Tackle a fair few years ago when the lake was a different shape to what it is now. We never had any probs with the crays when we went.

When 35mm film was a gamble, well out of focus most of them had old withered fins
And the best one in the lake at the time from an estimated 25 to 30 carp that were missed in the netting, few years after I finished on there this one ended up in a lake not to far away, I caught it at 26.8 from LH and not long after it was caught at 31lb or there about someone sent it into Carptalk and I recognized it straight away.

I fished it probably a few years before you did (guessing last visit was 11/12 years ago) and yes there was a good Thinking Tackle episode made on there. No idea what it's like now but was a lovely water with some very good looking carp and some huge tench (my pb is still from there of over 9lb). Not a great deal of help to the OP (sorry) but nice memories to think back on
