Anyone with views from using these? I'm looking at making a return from a seven year lay off and fancy going retro! What are the characteristics of these rods? Will the 3.5 section chuck oca bags, usable casting range etc?

I had a set back in t' late 90/00s and couldn't get on with them - the 2.5 tip was ok but using the 3.5 turned them into shark rods. Could have been because I weighed a sprightly 12stone back then and couldn't compress them but I would hardly call them classic carp rods - others may disagree!
If you want to go retro why not buy my set of 3lb Greys F1 Mk2s . . .built on Century blanks; waay nicer to catch fish with . . !

I played with the AK47's, and the 2.5lb tip was lovely, but I did not get on with the 3.5 tip, probably because I wasn't using big bags.
The heavier tip was not as nice to play fish on.
The lighter version 1.75/2.75 on the other hand I loved for tench fishing.

I had a couple again around late 90's early 00's and absolutely loved them in both tests, until these rods I'd only ever owned a set of 2.5tc Ballistas as I was generally and always have fished small waters but at that time I had got a ticket on Stoneacres and at 50 odd acres the 3.5tc opened up another dimension for my casting.

I bought them for similar reasons (was previously on through action 2.5lb tcs) but needed the grunt to punch big solid bags into a very weedy estate lake . . .tbf with the 3.5 tip they did this with ease but were a pig to handle (heavy & cumbersome) and absolute poo to play fish on; hence me settling on 3lb tc F1 Mk2 (all rounders) which were a revelation at the time!
