Morning guys. I currently have a tempest 100 brolly, anyone gone from the nylon version to the aquatexx? My main reason for considering it is the light that the nylon lets through in the summer, but are there any other pros or cons?
Are the accessories interchangeable, like the skull cap?

hi so had the tempest brolly mk1 plus wrap for 6 or so years and loved it. My go to overnighter Bivvy. last year I bought the tempest brolly advanced ev aquatexx and have to say the nylon brolly has not been used since.
Main reason was condensation which was pretty bad on the standard brolly plus wrap. the nylon brolly does also let in light but with an overwrap it was fine.
the brolly advanced is super dark and I have bought the nylon cap wrap for the brolly 100 which fits the advanced perfectly.
This on the bivvy massively reduces condensation as it keeps the outer surface of the aquatexx dry and hence it can breath.Also helps with much less effort to dry the bivvy as its only the bottom of the bivvy that get wet in the rain not the whole thing.
Might use the nylon brolly mk1 in peak summer but to be honest very pleased with the purchase and really rate the aquatexx.
It does weigh almost double though!

1 thing to bear in mind is Aquatex takes longer to dry than Nylon. I have a nylon storm with cap wrap, it's not as dark as Aquatex but it's dark enough for me and far lighter too......

agree with the drying time. This why I always use the nylon cap wrap and this gets wet in rain not the bivvy

So id probably be better off just using the skull cap wrap through the summer for the light issues?

when I had a tempest the skull cap stayed on permanently
as in hot summer it made it a lot cooler and darker and of course in winter made it warmer and no condensation problems on the roof
In am surprised anyone takes them off ?

Whilst I'd agree that aquatex is darker this has never been an issue for me . I'm one of the few who prefer the nylon . Aquatex takes an age to dry , nylon is very quick to dry and I don't end up having to dry it out at home .

Ive always had the skull cap on, only ever take it off in winter to put the skull cap wrap off. The skull cap leaves a fair bit of the bivvy exposed to the sun though, and those bits get really warm and let a lot of light through

That's why I opted for the cap wrap all year round rather than the skull cap.....protects the sides and more of the bivvy should it rain......

nylon cap wrap is great weighs next to nothing and easy to put away. Got an aquatexx one for my tempest 100 and it weighs a ton. Nylon much better choice.

I have bivvies in both Aquatexx and nylon ...Yes Aquatexx might block out some light but the difference in heat is minimal and a good quality nylon performs in every other way on par in my experience, is ligter in weight and dries quicker

I had an Aquatexx Tempest V2, used it about 3 times and got rid of it.
Granted it does block a lot of sunlight out which I really like but the down sides meant it had to go.
I found it really heavy, when wet it was ridiculous, the material seemed like it soaked water up rather than repelling it. Condensation in almost all conditions was unbearable even with a groundsheet, and it was just too big for me (I mainly fish 1 night sessions so just don't need the space it provided)
I've had a fair few Trakker shelters over the years but this experience really put me off getting another.
I know use an Aqua Pioneer, the material is much better and I use it exclusively with the Skull Cap so Condensation is a thing of the past, yes it is still heavy but it does repell water like it's supposed too and it's the perfect size for me and feels built to last.

I still have a aqua m3, tempest v2 air and a tempest 100 ev all in aquatex i hardly ever get any condensation in any of them and none of mine have ever soaked up water instead it beads on tops and runs off, i do frequently use the tempests with skull caps which will help.
One of the things i like about aquatex compared to nylon is when using them where conditions vary cold nights and warm days the nylon material bivvies would expand and expand and contract so material would flap about when cooler but go excessively tight when it warmed up putting a lot more stress onto material and frame

I've got the 100 brolly in nylon and love it. I had Aquatexx on my old V2 before but don't see any real benefits over nylon. People talk about Aquatexx being darker but the nylon is no different to sleeping under a normal camping tent. I dont bother with skull caps or wraps, just takes up more space and weight and not needed with my fishing. The brolly footprint is big enough without these extras to keep you dry and out of the elements. I definitely think about saving the money and going with nylon.
