Just wondering who still uses two separate rods and who just uses one rod for both tasks?
I currently have two separate FS E Class rods but thinking of selling both and buying one decent rod to do both leading/marking and spombing

I've just gone back to using 2 seperate after always using 1. It depends what you want to do, but I think casting a spod to a float will always be far more accurate, if pin point accuracy is what you are after.
My mind was changed after witnessing several very good anglers using two marker rods to mark a spot, then spombing in the middle of them. Overkill? Maybe. But it works.

I always take two. For what it's worth. But I don't use a marker rod. I use two spod rods. Feel I get a better feel through the stiffer spod rod than the dedicated marker rods I've used but that's probably placebo and the main reason is I can have 2 spods set for different spots negating the need to keep changing the line clip. Usually fish 2 rods on 1 spot and 1 on the other unless circumstances dictate otherwise

For years I took specific marker and spod rods, preferring to spod and cast to a marker float.
I felt the marker rod was better with braid, where I preferred mono on the spod rod.
A couple of years ago I switched back to a single spod/marker rod and braid with an Amnesia leader. Once I have found my spot with the marker, I can clip up and spod using a far bank marker.
I frequently bait up with the spod or Spomb over my cast in rods after they have been in the water a few hours.
