Just started to prep some baits using Goo for the first time.
What's people's thought on it, and have you guys had much success using it?

I personally used it for around 18 months, I did OK and used a couple of flavours. It's decent, I personally didn't notice a huge difference in results between the goo and the other liquid attractants other brands use, aside from the Pink Almond, whether it was through luck or whatever, I always seemed to do well on that

I tried with the squid goo when if first came out. Being a short session angler I had high hopes that it might be a little edge. I used it for a year. My conclusion was that it made absolutely fcuk all difference to my catch rate. I caught no more on goo'd baits than the std hookbaits that I was using straight out of the tub. The only thing that was guaranteed was ending up with stained pink hands every session. Binned it off. Id rather soak my baits in an decent fish hydro, a decent CSL liquid, squid brand fish sauce or a mixture of a very dilute DMPT/flavour/sugar combo. All of which actually seemed to out fish a std hookbait.
Im not a Korda hater by the way. If it worked for me id still be using it.

Use to be a fan of it but think I just got caught up in the hype if I'm honest when it came out, I stopped using it a few years back now and it made no difference in my fishing tbh if anything since I've stopped using it my fishing has got better. A few lakes near me have banned anyway including my syndicate

Any reason why they've banned it? Genuine question. As mentioned I didn't see a huge difference but wouldn't know of a reason to ban it? Interesting

I never really rated goo to be honest, I tried it and never really noticed a difference and if you use a good quality hookbait, you shouldn't really need it.
Good qualty popups are packed full of high quality attractors, that I don't really see what more you can do to an individual hookbait, other than change it's colour or flavour/taste with a liquid like goo.
If you buy a good quality hookbait, like a northern special, essential B5, or whatever. Each bait has it's own qualities and taste profile, then you dip it in a goo glug, which turns it into something completely different, it never made much sense to me.
You'll always get far better results, keeping it simple with a good quality boilie or pellet combination, and learning to get your spodding deadly accurate, and I mean deadly accurate.

I didn't notice any difference when using it, but that must be 10-15 years ago now?

It's good for changing the colour of your baits. Firm believer that colour can make as much difference as anything else sometimes with hookbaits.
Some very shrewd anglers, and not just those in the limelight who get paid to, swear by it though. If it gives you confidence go for it.

Nail on the head there I think mate. Confidence is massive, if it works for you then great.
I personally have switched more towards oils that match or suit the bait I'm using and feel more confident, but the goo clearly has its fans and works

I have a tub full of Cell bottom baits soaking in the pink almond stuff and at one water I visit they completely out fish everything else, absolutely no contest. Elsewhere they are not so effective though will still get bites. Just a matter of trying different things to see what works, everywhere is different after all.

I was watching an episode of carp angle and they were talking about Goo and how so many people are not using it in the way its supposed to be used. Apparently its important to apply it directly before you use the baits as its supposed to leave an instant cloud but so many people are soaking their baits in it so it gets absorbed and doesn't leak out like its supposed to. I'm not saying that baits that are soaked in it wont catch or be attractive just that it isn't the way it was developed to be used.

Probably because the korda krew are constantly showing how they soak their hookbaits in it for months on end. Monkey see monkey do.

I agree there what's the point of changing a pop up when you bought it for a reason
