Guys
Gonna start fishing a 3 acre lake this year , gonna use lighter rods
After a set of reels , not bait runners
Any suggestions?

I have the ultegra 5500 and really like them as a mini big pit. I know some people have issues with the line going behind the spool but I find this is only an issue if you have line twist.

Depends in your budget but the original castizms are superb and you might be able to get a mint second hand set for a decent price.

On a lake that size I'd be on pound and a quarter to two pound test rods with four or five thousand size reels.

Agreed ... If using around 2lb rods I would be looking at 5000 size Shimano baitrunners personally .... Difficult to know what people consider light these days ... Most think 3lb tc is lighter rods

Yes, its sad really. All these coming into the sport now are really missing out. I only have one set of carp rods and there 2.5lb tc and will cover all my fishing needs.
