.. £600-ish self imposed budget for a set of 3 rods, probably 12' 3.5's... what are you buying?
My current rods are Armalite 2.75's, but I fancy something a bit beefier.
Some options I have in mind;
USED - Harrison / Free Spirit / Century.. which model?
NEW - American Tackle Atrex
NEW - ESP T.H. Distance
Something else?
What I don't want is anything blingy or anything shorter than 12'. I'm also not overly keen on rods from Daiwa, Fox, Shimano etc (but could be convinced) and won't be getting anything from the likes of Sonik, Avid etc. These are just my personal likes and dislikes... It doesn't mean anything against your rods!

I'd always go used for rods. Makes no sense buying new if you get a well looked after set. They don't really degrade.

Century fma2's. 3-5 oz.
You should be able to scrape a set of three for this money S/H.
Parallel but design do can punch bags out no problem and a different weave tip that will feel like a lighter tc tod when playing fish.
I've had a set for a couple of years now and can't fault them. No broom handles here.. 😆

Harrison - Torrix TE or Torrix 3.5lb for the budget. TE are regularly sold for this budget and under.
Free Spirit - Hi s 3.5lb of you are lucky but usually more than £600 for 3, maybe the S-lite 3.5lb or E-class
Century - maybe some FMA , ADV-1 or similar rods in 3.5lb, I have had a couple of Century but not my personal preference.

Yeh, Hi-S are probably out of budget, I just missed out on a set on Ebay this morning, I bid 630, one bid higher at 650 but reserve not met and didn't sell (buy it now option was 800).

it worked for me in the same situation but I did increase it by a fiver

Hi also been watching these rods.
They have been resisted twice already
I would message him and see what's the least he wants
Really wanted some 3.5 in 13 foot for myself.

I nearly always but used rods now but they need to still be brand new or at least in as new condition. Theres plenty of bargains about and always best to let someone take the hit first and you will hardly loose anything if you did sell them on at a later date. I only paid £500 for my two century stealth graphene rods so less than the cost of one brand new one and they still had the tags on them. My mate recently bought three 12' 3.5 hi s black edition rods and 3 basia sld reels, new hi s net and aqua 5 rod holdall for £1600 on ebay and they were all brand new and never used. There are plenty bargains out there if you look.
