Okay so I have been fishing a small local lake that is full with 3lb to 4lb carp.
Doing a 24hr session I get over 20 of these gorgeous girls out but I was wondering if anyone has any tips for catching their parents?
I have done 2 24hrs and have only 1 out over 10lb. I. No way moaning but was wondering what I should try to ensure my rig stays in longer for the next bigger fish.
I have tried 22mm boillies and also a 2 boilie setup.

I fish a couple of lakes like that at times - I'm trying to get to 20s through lots of low to mid doubles.
For me it's fishing away from the popular swims/spots where you catch lots and finding the bigger fish usually in snags.
If you can bait and watch for them then you know where to concentrate.

Fish the spots you normally fish, the going spots. Get a good bit of bait out but don't put a rig on it. Fish a rig either side of the baited spot a good 4 to 6 feet OFF the spot.
Guaranteed to pick up the bigger fish, its worked for years.

Wow, that's great thanks for that. I will definitely give that a try next time. I am hoping to get down there this weekend.

If you're fishing a day ticket with a lot of swims try this if you can cast to an empty swim.
Stick a single bottom bait six foot off the bank of the empty swim, don't use a pop up!! Attach a tiny bag with a couple of squashed boilies.
You could cast closer to the bank if possible but don't come out any further than 6 foot. Works well on waters just on sunset.
As an aside why wouldnt you use a pop up in this situation?

Wow thanks for the info. To be honest during the winter I have the water to myself as I also fish mid week.
I have only now got back in to Carp Fishing after a 7 year break due to illness. But as I am now in remission it's time to live!
My wife just brought me a bait boat for xmas as due to my shakes casting is more difficult then before and I am only using two rods as to start that's all I can manage.
After such a long break it's amazing what you forget and it's coming back in small chunks so to speak.
I am definitely going to try what you have all suggested and report back

Cant stand boats myself but get your need for one, keep at it.
NIce cheap winter hack. Couple of KG of White rice soaked in the cheapest Lidl version of Baileys for 48 hours (looks like White maggots) gives off great atraction because of the alchohol and the cream clouding the water, cheaper than a gallon of maggots too.
Fish a very small White wafter over the top, a cut down Choc Malt is a killer.
Put the other half of the bottle in your coffee

I've never tried it before myself but I have heard a pop up on a hinge stiff rig is normally better for the bigger fish. Fish it 2”-3” off the deck and it's meant to be a bit too blatant for the smaller fish but trick up the bigger fish and normally great hook holds. Keep enjoying it mate 👍🏻

Definitely an approach worth trying, and as mentioned above, just away from the baited spots.

Are you sure there are bigger ones in there
If it's a match type venue the bigger ones may have been removed and the 10 you caught may just be the biggest in there
