I've just installed some MDF skirting over laminate flooring so the skirting covers the flooring expansion gap.
I now need to paint the pre-primed skirting with two top coats of Dulux Satinwood.
What masking tape do you recommend, I've used unbranded stuff in the past and it's not been that good.
Seems there's all sorts of tapes for all sorts of jobs

Also do I need to remove the tape after the first coat and put new tape down for the second coat.
Rather than using two lots of tape I was hoping to score the edge of the first tape with a sharp knife and repaint over it for a second time

Frog tape is expensive, but very good. The blue one in toolstation is decent and cheaper than frog.
I'd try and use masking paper instead tho, you can usually slide it under the skirting so you don't get the line appear in future if the floor moves (most do) and it's easier than trying to tape round an architrave unless it's a very simple one

I'll give it a go but the gap under the skirting is almost nonexistent, there is a slight one under the architrave though. .
If I end up using tape do I tape twice or can I get away with the scoring idea?

If you press the flooring near the edge you'll get a bit of flex usually. I'll put the paper down before the skirting if I'm spraying, and run round with a plastic scraper while the paint is dry but soft.

Frog tape as mentioned, 100% if you are using tape
If you can get something under it then cardboard or paper will do but tape it down!

Going to buy Frogtape whether I use it or not, it will always come in handy.
The job is at my son's house, when I go there next I'm going to try what Doug says, try and flex the flooring and put something in the gap, might try some very thin cellophane type stuff. My thinking is it will release better than paper.
It's only a box room 2.7x2.7m so there's not a lot to do.

We have saved a load of encapsulated A4 sheets previously from my wife's work that we use for under / up against skirting boards etc.
Seems to work well for us and they live with the decorating gear.

If you can get it under the skirting good and proper you can do the first coat, pull it out a little and then do a second coat

Get the yellow frog tape, a bit more useful as you can use it on delicate stuff with no residue.
The paper I use is a really thin waxy brown paper designed for the job
