I have always put mine on the house insurance.
3k worth of sports equipment covered outside of the house.

Same as below
Make sure tho that you are covered at night when you are asleep..... when I got mine I specifically asked them if I would be covered at night, sleeping no more than 3mts away in a tent with a sounder box near me.
It was quite hard to explain it to a person who doesn't understand the concept of it but luckily they asked for advice and they said yes I would be covered

I'd be reading the policy small print very carefully in that case to make sure covered while sleeping is in writing.

I have mine on Hiscox content insurance. It's not the cheapest but they have a reputation for actually paying up without much quibbling if something goes wrong.

If you cant put in house insurance then change your house insurance to someone who can ..... make sure you add "away from home" ..... Insurance is a minefield and will drive you crazy. Prevention is way forward .... Keep all high ticket items stored indoors .... do not load car up the night before (unless garaged) and choose where you fish carefully or if fishing dodgy areas use a cheaper "back up" kit

Also avoid stopping at a fuel station for example on way to lake or home.
Knew one bloke who was convinced he was followed home before being done over.
Very easy to spot a carper.
