So I have been looking at changing my JAG 2 plus 1's to the cypography/Elliott Gray buzz bars for a while now due to the fact I like that little bit more versatility being able to fish x3 single rods etc without having to remove all my snag ears and my lockdowns/rod lockers.
I have since managed to find out that Custom Angling Solutions sell them as they no longer supply Elliott and offer x3 sizes are 7"&8" (HFW) 9"&10" (STD)
11"&12" (WIDE).
In September I will be changing my current Shimano Ultergra 5500 (baby big pits) to Okuma 8k's.
I've tried my new reel's out on my current Jag 2+1 set up (the normal front and rear buzz bars not XL) and fully extended Front Buzzer Bar measures 11.75ins and the rear Bar 8.75ins I feel they are snug so I'm thinking the wide (11"&12") Cypography buzz bar would be the best option over the standard. That said I don't want the wide and find they are too big, I still need them to fit in my Jag bag and although fully adjustable I don't want them to look daft with surplus bar sticking outside of the alarms.
Has anyone found they are struggling with the standard 9"&10" bars?

I fish three 12000 XTB's on a rear 9.5" bar. That's what you call snug. With a set of 5500's you'd be able to park a car in between them lol.

Not so sure about that i have some 5500 ci4's and 10000xt techs the rotors and spools are obviously smaller on the 5500 the the handle and bail arm marginally sticks out further from the centre of the rod on the 5500. It depends how you position the reels to determine best buzz bar size.
To the op the only way to know what size buzz bars you want for your new reels is to fit some on to some rods and place them at chosen buzz bar distances to see how tight they are, and find out what you prefer

I've used a set of their sticks and bars for around 12 years now, it's good, solid kit. Weight wise half way between stainless and carbon. Only criticism is that the thumb screws would be better if they were retained. After Sales is decent - I screwed one of the sticks into a canal towpath (!) and the auger point came loose - spoke to Kalstan's M.D. and it was quickly fixed f.o.c.. Apart from that, zero issues and they've taken all the abuse I can throw at them (60 nights a year, all year round.)
