As the title says, I am very confused why I am not able to splice the leader using a normal splicing needle.

When I try to go upwards it just gets out, I tried it 100 times and never managed to go up not even 1 inch.

Is this Durakord thing requiring Korda special splicing needles or what am I missing?

This is what I am using for a few years now...dont spice it anymore...
Had a few times where the loop came loose, using it like this its far stronger and safer....( beads slide easier over the very minimal knot)
This is used on the mainline end...the lead end is a knot..

All these knots imply using the splicing needle which is really impossible to use, it won't go up on the line at all it will just exit the other way or something like that. I have also seen a post where a guy said that Korda splicing needles are needed for the Durakord, that might be the problem... I ordered them and I will tell you

The korda needle is very fine and works a treat

I have not used Durakord so I'm not sure if its leadfree, but I had the same problem when I used Fox Submerge for the first time, I found it virtually impossible to splice and had the same problems and felt like chucking it into the lake it was that frustrating, then I found that if I did it carefully and slowly just pushing the needle through bit at a time and watching for the needle coming out the side and just backing up a bit if it was before continuing and not tensioning up the leader material, it was simple.

Its like riding a bike, when you can ride one and discover how simple it is, you cannot work out why you could not ride one.

Unfortunately it seems like it can only be spliced by the Korda Needle or ultra fine needles. I found another needle in my room and this one was going way better but it still isn't as fine as the Korda one so I'll just wait

On the rare occasions I have to splice or knot into a lead free leader I use an ordinary needle.

I think it was Noj who said bunch up the leader, that is exactly what I do and take the mainline at least 50mm through the inside before coming out and tying a uni knot around the leader.

Update

If anyone encounters the same problem as I did, I completely solved it by buying the fine splicing needle from Korda (orange one).

Turns out it is REALLY fine and will just work without problems

The job was impossible with what I had (and I tried 3-4 different ones)

The fox easy splice was a game changer for me . Very easy to use

It's an old video but the test shown is poor. Add a hooklength and pull from the hook (not the swivel) as the fish must do; the angle of pull is very different and requires far more pressure. Korda no-trace beads are the one, about as safe as is possible for any rotary type arrangement.
