I was wondering if anyone has first hand experience of a good net for skimming floating debris, general crud and algae off the surface of a lake.

Have recently purchased a 1 acres fishing lake, I'm in the process of cleaning everything. Tonnes of overgrown reeds and a considerable amount of floating algae and duck weed.

I'm well versed in good and bad options for carp landing nets, but not so much on skimming nets. Lots of options online but many look to be cheap Chinese crap that will fall apart in 10 minutes. Ideally, it would be a screw thread attachment which connect to the usual fishing landing net pole, but not against having to buy a new designated pole with the net if it's a different fitment.

Clearly can't use standard fishing based landing nets as the net material weave is too large.

PS: owning a lake which has been neglected for a few years is hard work!

They searching koi fry nets. It's a mine field but the mesh should be what your looking for.

If it's on the surface what you need is a floating boom. I'm sure there's plenty for sale on eBay.

Couple of boats wouldn't take long to do.

Blue pull cord rope, put some pipe lagging aound it and wrap in some scaffy mesh netting and cable tie together. Works great for duckweed etc.

I should think a rope with buoyancy aids strung out along it's length and then dragged along with a man on each end would work well for skimming weed off the top.
You will also need a sturdy long rake to transfer the bundles of weed from the water and on to the bank.
