I've just had my second ridgemonkey stove start spewing gas from the hose and am now in the market for a new stove.
I was looking at the Coleman sportster but they've now been discontinued and are going for silly money!!
Are there any good quality petrol burning stoves on the market?

Primus omnifuel is bomb proof but a huge price on it. Plus a huge noise too. Mar whisperlite is another alternative but again a bit of a price to it but with less noise.
I'd maybe try and hang about and see if you can get a sportster for cheap as they are pretty decent but it's simmer ability is a bit lacking.
If you can stomach staying with gas go for a bulin t4, sturdy and well made about £30 ish too.

Bulin t4 is a great stove for the price. If you hunt around you can occasionally find them for under £25 often branded under other names.
I used Colemans for many years until one day mine decided to imitate a flame thrower.
since changing to gas I have discovered that the world no longer has that faint whiff of petrol.

Yes, personally I have experience of MRS and Primus, but you will pay more for these type stoves but they are ultra reliable and servicable. I also had a Coleman Sportster, long long ago.
MSR Dragonfly, I used one of these for well over a decade, still have it. Very very powerful stove and in it's nornal guise, very noisy too, but if you get a damper cap for it it becomes very quiet and much more adjustable for a low simmer. I was thinking of selling mine so have been watching them on Ebay for a while, 1 just went used once as new for £98. There was also another which is relisted now I think for £50 but it doesn't have the pump or fuel bottle.
Primus Omnilite TI. Very expensive as all these stoves seem to have become but in the time I've used it also totally reliable. It's not quite as powerful as the Dragonfly IMO but it has the advantage of being able to run on gas too. I use gas for the summer months and petrol in winter. I love this stove and can't see me ever changing it now. I have also bought the damper cap for this stove, once again more simmer control at the lower end but not really required.
I bought a Optimus Vega between the 2 above as it has the ability to run on liquid gas and vapour gas, the theory being in winter when the gas fails to vapourise properly (low pressure) I could just upend the cannister and run it on liquid. My personal experience of this stove is that the flame is very very difficult to control on liquid gas, mostly it's just full power which was useless for simmering, great for brews though. That might just have been a quirk of this stove but it put me off liquid gas so I went the Omnilite Ti. Another stove gathering dust.
Before all those I had the Coleman Sportster, again for well over a decade, a great stove and reasonably priced.
One thing I can't stand is flare up on start up on petrol stoves, great big yellow flame. I now carry a bottle of methylated spirit which I preheat the generator with before starting the stove up, it burns with a blue flame which I much prefer.
