Please can you offer me some advice about stage stands as I need to buy some but havent used them before ! I currently own an old Fox rod pod X ...

They are all much of a muchness. Solar and jag are better thought out than cheaper ones. But you dont need extra banksticks with them. The cheaper ones just screw into the platforms, and you pop your banksticks into them. Not sure there is much to go wrong with them so its all down to taste really

Tenner a pair on ebay, worth getting two pair and goalpost.
Take an assortment of screws as many stages are poor wood.

thanks for the info - the bank sticks i got with the pod are 19mm so looks like theyre too fat for most modern stage stands ! new bank sticks it is then ...

Some cheapo lightweight ali ones are all you need. That's all I use and the fish have never complained.

Wychwood do one that doubles as a stabiliser, and they come in 2 sizes to suit different diameter sticks. I've been meaning to see if they fit the fox banksticks.
You do need to be realistic with stage stands, short sticks and either narrow buzz bars or goal post setups are a must.

I bought a pair of Matrix stage stands a few years ago when I needed them and they are brilliant. £25 each but come with an upright that you screw into the stand so you do not need bank sticks and it makes it very sturdy. £50 a pair isn't cheap but for the quality of what you get I don't feel it is overly expensive either
