I may sound dumb but I've bought some korda quick change swivels so I can attach rigs to my mainline with lead clips and be able to change them really quickly. They've been delivered but come with a ring attached to it which I wasn't expecting. What is the ring for? Is there a way of getting it off? It's going to be in the way for what I wanted to do I think...

Sounds like you've got the ones that you would use with a helicopter set up. The ring is so the rig can slide up the leader/mainline.
Are they size 8 or size 11 swivels?

I ordered size 8 I think. How do I cut the rings off? What with? As they are obviously metal..

Get a pair of wire / side cutters. They come in handy if you put a size 6 barbed hook through your finger too.

As mentioned a decent set of side cutters will cut through the ring like butter then just remove the ring.

Also handy to cut the hook out of a fish etc
