Hello all, can someone on here please help me out, I have three diawa emblem br 25's, my problems are with the spooling up. I have spent a lot of money on line these past few weeks and I still can't get this right and this is only on one reel, the line just seems to go from high to low in a cone shape, is this normal?
Any advice from you would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me mad. Thanks

Just add or remove washers to move the spool forward or back to “catch” more line on the relevant part of the spool.

Search youtube for uneven line lay if. As per the reply below, you will need to remove or add washers on the main shaft that the spool slides on to.

Long post warning...
TLDR version...Add a washer if the cone of line is too much at the spool lip...remove a washer if the cone is built up at the base of the spool..
Now then...unfortunately the Emblem 23A BR came without spare spools and I doubt you paid the extra for any....I know I didn't, they were half the price of the reel! If new they did come with spare line lay adjustment washers though.
This means you will need to strip off the existing line by either tediously rewinding it by hand onto it's original plastic spool or a much better option if you have an electric drill is to put a long bolt with a nut through the plastic spool to use as an arbour and rewind that way . Another way is to use an empty reel to wind the line onto, the most awkward option is to walk the line out on a field or onto distance sticks.
Count how many adjustment washers that are on the shaft under the spool .
Compare that to the number on the two reels that have acceptable line lay and add or subtract a washer if necessary
The number may be the same.. if so that just means that that particular reel needs different adjustment..
Many folk don't get their heads around the fact that a reel is constructed from many different parts that mesh together and sometimes one gets an absolutely gem of a reel and sometimes get one that needs a bit more tinkering.. mostly they all are adequate and perfectly OK straight out of the box.
Add a washer if the cone is more pronounced at the front lip of the spool, subtract one if the spool is shallow at the front and built up at the back.
The washers move the position of the spool up/down the reciprocating shaft to allow for any discrepancies between the meshing of the internal reel parts or for means of adjusting because of different line characteristics or personal preference.
You could just re-spool using that spool on one of the other reels but after putting it back on it's own reel and performing a very long cast you will be back to nearly where you started.
If you find that subtracting or adding the stock spare washers that came with the reels gives too much adjustment then a half thickness one can be easily made from thin plastic such as found on packaging and suchlike.
Often this problem just seems to occur when out fishing and a spool was removed for whatever reason, such as a tangle....what happened was a washer stuck to the spool on removal then dropped off before refitting or stayed stuck to the spool and the spool got put back on a different reel.
On my reels I mark the reel with dots from an indelible white marker (a tyre pen actually) on the reel feet and a corresponding number of dots on the inner of the spools that go with each particular reel. It makes it easy to swap spools and know they will have the desired line lay.

If you are happy with the line lay on the other 2, count the number of washers on one of them and make the 3rd reel the same
If you have spare spools, just wind the line back off instead of replacing it every time (if that is what you are doing?)

I attempted to cover all bases.
Usually on these topics replies consist of ...
I ain't got no spare spool.
It's the same amount of washers as the other reels.
My other reels never need adjustment.
Shimanos never need this..
It's never done it before with : mono/braid/flouro .

Thanks very much for this great information, I will try this later on, for now I have ordered a big and a medium shimano big pits and I'll use these diawas as spares, or if your suggestions don't work for me I'll throw them in the bin.
