Any users of these rods offer some advice please from experience -
Are these built on 3 1/4 blanks or the 3 1/2?
optimum casting lead size - 31/2oz or 4oz?
Any good for small solid bag work?

Built on 3lb 6 oz blanks will cast 4oz leads no problem.

I had the 12'6” versions for a good number of years, beautiful rods, much soft feel than the 12' version. I believe they were 3lb 6oz tc, there used to be an article on Harrison's website by Steve stating how and why they were developed. Lead size personally I found then too soft for 4-4.5oz leads, they just felt overloaded on the tip and tended to lose accuracy when using such lead, so I'd say 3.5 would be ideal.
Should be fine for small solid/mesh bags again if not overloaded as previously mentioned.
Lovely rods even though the technology as been surpassed somewhat recently.

When i spoke to TE he said the best leads to balance them were 3.75oz if you could get them as they have disappeared a bit now.
Apparently the 12ft 6 version was to add soften the tip a bit when playing fish in close.
I still have mine and rate them highly. if solid bag fishing aim for round 4oz

Brilliant rods, I use mine for bag work with fairly big bags (7x14). Have two sets and can't ever see me replacing them.

Better tapers, 1k weave on tip section, improves on recovery etc, and allowing for slightly thinner and more responsive tips. When I came to replace mine I nearly replaced like for like, they are that nice a rod, great casters, soft yet forgiving under the tip but they are now, although a proven blank, quite long in the tooth.

I used the 12,6 TE,s for 8 years brilliant rods. The majority of my fishing was at range of 110 yds on a syndicate with a 15lb line and no leaders rule. I used 4oz leads 100% of the time and felt they were perfect for the rod. The rods did soften over time but were heavily used.
I moved onto 13ft aviators which were quite a similar rod in action and casting range. I now have free spirit hi s ives which are a good notch above the Harrison's for casting.

I have the 12ft 6 TE and asked the man himself on a tuition, as said to others, absolute optimal is 3.75oz, however different people will find a 3.5 or 4oz, works best for them. I use 3.75 and do find they feel the best through the cast when hitting them hard, a 4oz does feel like a bit too much.
