Had the old Neville stainless weigh bar before. Been looking at the Cygnet Shoulder Bar, Weigh Tripod or just the attachment to screw into a landing net pole.
What does everyone on here use and why. I can't find any weight figures for the Tripod as I like the idea of more accurately weighing a fish, but wondering if they are a bit too heavy.

I prefer a tripod now, no shakey needle due to me, almost always used a bar before that. Using a barrow weight isn't really a issue, I dont like crooks at all, just my pref. I have the older Cygnet tripod only issue I had was a big lively Grassy making a leg slip.

I have never fancied a tripod (due to the bulk/weight) but was fed up (particuarly when I used dial scales) of trying to get a semi-accurate weight using a bar.
So a few years back I bought a weighing staff/crook from Cygnet. I find it easy to use and no more bouncing weights, particuarly since switching to digital scales.
I've used it for mid thirties with no issues but must confess I'd be a little twitchy using it with anything much bigger - I'd be afraid of it slipping/the fish being dropped.
One thing to note if you get a staff/crook is to ensure that when you lift the fish it doesn't swing/pivot away drom your matt/cradle when lifting in case of a disaster.

Have you got a rough idea of how much the tripod weighs mate. Are we talking just a couple of kilo or would you say a lot more? I've also considered the cygnet shoulder bar as I'd imagine it would be easy to use with two people for stability. It also looks usable as a standard weigh bar.

Yes I'd love a tripod, shame someone doesnt do a quality carbon legged version that will fit in a rod holdall so its not to much to lug around, a tripod your only going to buy once so i'd pay good money for it.

Mines the Euro Sniper and its about 1.382kg/3lb so quite light really. The bars, 2 people, 2 people shaking, used quite a lot in the Monster Carp TV series if you want to have a nosey, think its on catch up on ITV Player.
I guess it depends if accuracy is important to you (within reason naturally). Cam lock seems less likely to slip compared to thumbwheel from previous threads. I support the sling straps anyway until the seconds of weighing and keep my hands lightly around them even then jic the fish plays up, if it does I take the pressure of the scale hook as much as is possible.
I cant really find fault with mine tbh.
Edit, I seem to remember someone doing a webbed strap that had a eyelet on either end, 1 for a tent peg the other was where the pointed end of the weigh staff went in.

There is no need to get any extra kit to weigh your fish as you already have it...
I tie a loop of paracord to the top of my scales, then i use the landing net pole to lift the fish.
Hook the weigh sling onto the scales, the loop from the scales goes into the V of the spreader block, hold in place with one hand, put a foot behind the end of the pole. As you push the pole away from you the weigh sling slowly rises in a very controlled manner, its dead easy.
I have done this with many fish to almost 50lbs with no issues.

Has anyone got the Avid Carp Lok Down Weigh Tripod 
looks interesting but cant see a weight for it ?
I actually own a NASH - WEIGH TRIPOD thats a proper heavy duty job and has been used to weigh a 140lb catfish (not mine)
but its far to heavy for me now and I want a lighter tripod but it must have adjustable legs due to fishing places that are 90% slopping banks
AND NO I DONT WANT ANY HOOK ON A POLE THANKS

I have a tripod but don't use it that much because of the size, weight and the amount of room it takes up in smaller swims. I have a Gardner T bar that screws into a net pole and that works for me.

I looked at that one Phil they give details of their bigger one dimensions and weight but ? SOD all on the smaller lighter one and no response from them when I asked yet
AVID on the other hand replied the same day and their LOK DOWN WEIGH TRI-POD is only 1.5kg. So thats seems to be the number one contender and I DO know their clamp system is the very best on the market and will not slip plus if it wears its got an adjustable nut & bolt to take up future wear very impressed
