Just picked up my new hi s 12'6 3.25 today and wondering which line clips you'd use on this blank . I was going to use the solar strong arm clips off of my Xs blanks but as the hi s's are thinner these are too loose , thanks in advance.

If you bound the solar ones tightly to a pencil and steamed or submerged them in boiling water followed by cold... it might close them up.
Personally I whip some on or have a rod builder do it.

For what those rods cost I'd get some carbon line clips added by a rod builder in the position that you prefer.

I don't understand the fascination for line clips on rods.
I last used them to stop my mitchell 300's backwinding when fishing churner style.
Maybe too many people fish their drags/baitrunners far too slack

They enable you to balance the weight of your indicators, which helps with a running rig. Other than that no use I can see.

apart from using pods where you don't have the choice, I cant see why people fish the butt ring "lake side" of the buzzers and use line clips to get the bobbins to work properly? Just put the butt ring a couple of inches from the buzzer and get the drop from there.

Ideally, that's what I would do - I don't care how far apart the front / back rests are from one another. As you say though, it's not always practical if you're using a pod or the swim is tight. That's when a line clip becomes useful. Definitely have their place, in my opinion.

I've got 3 delkim clips purely for fishing long running chods on slack as I can braid or Fluoro . The water is like a football pitch so I fish like Jim Shelley does and it works a treat . The clips prevent all sorts of line issues especially if it's windy
