Morning folks,
I have 3 of the above and find the clutch to be pretty poor - very snatchy, aside from returning them to the shop I was wondering if there are any recommendations for after market servicing/washers/magicians etc? I am in Surrey so even better if they are halfway local!

You could check there is not too much grease on the washers,or change them for carbon washers.Give Future reel servicing a call and Ryan will talk you through it

When you consider the amount of money you've spent on buying what used to be considered one of the better brands of reel, it seems wrong that you should need to spend more of your money rectifying the substandard drags.
Perhaps you should send an email to Shimano telling them what you think of the drag on your reels.
No complaints and they will continue to build to a certain standard to maximise their profits.
You never know they might even help you with the costs of the mods.

It's not a substandard drag though, some like a quick drag and some prefer a slower more progressive adjustment. I've got 4 ultegra ci4 's and the drag itself is very smooth just the adjustment is as it says, quick. Don't really undaerstund why the original posters are snatchy and would definitely take them back to the shop.

If the OPs drag is snatchy then I would call it sub standard unless they are all like it by design, which obviously they aren't.
Perhaps Shimano's quality control needs a shake if it's below the standard expected and an email to them might do that.
Agreed I would take them back to the shop.

A snatchy drag is normal too much grease on the washers.I have had it will a few reels,of which I have had alot over the last few years

xtc ci4's dont have grease on the white plastic washers, none at all!
