Anyone know if there are any LiPo of LiFe batteries available for the Mk3 Microcat?

Bloke called Alexandru Lupu, Who runs ALTechnologie does them, he is a very helpful honest bloke. I got some for my Technicat and they worked fine, my mate tried them in his microcat and also worked fine, obviously AT don't recommend this, however with no boat modifications they worked a treat and lasted ages... I had to put a few 5oz leads in the hoppers to make up for the weight difference to stop the props pulling in air and making that slurping sound,
Not sure how this will effect the microcat as they sit quite low anyway, they can't be charged in the boat and require a separate charger which he also supplies, batteries also have a percentage indicator on the top activated by a little push button so you know the power state... Hope this helps...
Oh and the speed increase is huge, I ran mine well trimmed back, it also seemed to drive straighter than when lead batteries were in it, may be due to the batteries constant voltage supply,

Don't charge the batteries in the house or attached garage/shed and use the best quality cells and charger you can buy. There's a good reason A.T. don't sell or recommend LiPo batteries.

They can set on fire and its a pretty intense fire when a LiPo battery goes.

LiPo is unpredictable and if not, stored, charged and handled correctly can explode or catch on fire. Bluebell Lake fisheries shop was almost destroyed by a Baitboat LiPo catching fire (google it). All aircraft have to carry a bucket of salted water to control mobile phone fires where somebody has sat on them accidentally and they have outlawed LiPo for the onboard backup and black box systems. There have been thousands of LiPo fires and it terrifies couriers. The other negative is that Lithium has severe affects on the reproductive health of fish.

Yep and don't let them get too cold or too hot.
Best kept at room temperature in a proper lipo storage box.

The answer is yes they are safer....

I've got Ultra Max LiFePO4 batteries for the Viper, and they are excellent. Ideally would like similar for the Cat but the battery spaces are too narrow.
