Can anyone please recommend a decent braided mainline ? Are there any issues I should be aware of when using braid and would you recommend a leader , many thanks ?

I can't actually recommend a braided mainline, (although I'm hearing good things about the soon to be released braid from Thinking Anglers).
What i CAN do is wholeheartedly steer you away from Fox Submerge, because it does not in actual fact submerge. At all.

I'm guessing the TA one will be a rebadged Gardner one with Lewis involved

Thanks . Any idea whether the Korda sub braid is any good , I've heard it sinks pretty good ? One thing that i'd been thinking of is line twist . Playing fish off the clutch with mono normally ends with a degree of twist in the line , just wondering whether this would be the case with braid , thanks .

Iv recently got the Gardner hydra sink noir. Not used it yet but from my research that was one of the bests. From what I gather it sinks well but at 0.35 it's quite thick so be interesting how it casts. My spomb braid I think is 0.18 and that flies

Not too sure if they make it anymore, but spoiled up with Korda Apex braid last year, very impressed with it in all aspects.

The Gardner hydro sink is excellent, as is suffix 832. Have used both and would happily recommend either.
Sufix for big range casting, hydro sink for everything else.

I've only used the regular hydro sink, it's been very good so I've not bothered changing and trying the noir. But I've heard many good things about it too. I don't bother with and leader other than 3-6 foot of leadcore. Kind of defeats the objective of using braid for me personally having a fluro or mono leader I'd rather not have any stretch at all.

Thanks for that . I'll have to give the Gardner a look and I think thinking anglers have one coming out soon so don't know what that will be like .

I know it's all down to gear and each person, but comparably for you, how far can you cast the suffix compared to the Gardner? Got the Gardner for trying to cast a bit further then I can with my mono. It's not the end of the world as worst case il just fish closer

I use the 832 in .24 with a shock leader and tbh it'd be unfair to compare it in the slightest. The Gardner is a lot thicker and heavier. It cast reasonably well in 22lb version, but I've not had to use it over 60 yards really and bought it for close in use more than anything.
I can put the suffix over 160 yards in the right conditions. I think it would start being a pain in the arse with the Gardner stuff in 22lb for anything much over 100 yards although ive not seen or used the 15lb version so couldn't comment on that.

Fair enough, I didnt really think much of it tbh as well... I Didn't lol, but the spomb braid flies, but that is half the diameter!

You will definitely cast it further than mono mate

Sinking braids usually have a thread of something heavy in to make them sink. In the Gardner Noir's case I believe it's flouro. It will have minimal stretch, it will be tough, it will sink but it won't cast any better than mono. For that you want a neutral braid in a lower diameter, something like the 832 or whiplash.
