I know Ken,...26 second homes and counting where I live..,used to be a lovely friendly place ,fair few shops etc..knew all the families,going back,their grandparents, grandchildren
It's dying now,..garage shut last week after 100 years of family owned service,we got one shop now..thats it.....

Too many now Tony mate,vastly outnumbered, all I can say is my mother and grandparents,RIP...glad they not around to see it..
Money ,greed ,ego and arrogance..
And did you know,ALL second home owners are being given another lot of money by our masters..6k,per property and they don't live in them..
Lots of homeless down here,hidden away..I have a 32 Yr old daughter,married,two degrees clever,articulate,and my son in law ,they live in a small 4 berth caravan..on a driveway..as they can't afford to buy or rent,yet oodles of empty property around ,enough to ease the homeless problem..
It wrong..really appalling..

100% agree with you Tony..
I spent a lot of time with both sets of grandparents when younger,they taught me to think and question,not to accept ,..
All I can say is...we are not far away from a sort of super elite system .
There has always been us and them..but now it's a form of rural clensing...its a form of monetary bullying,at the expense of an indigenous people..its customs and way of life..
It is what is..very sad mate,especially for those that love rural,special places..

Met someone before xmas,whose bought three second homes where I live..they still empty,I've just walked my dog past them..
Everyone is entitled to live where they wish at the moment on this small,corrupt island...the emphasis is on live..and become part of a community..not dominate, or bully out the young people who are born and raised in their area,and wish to remain..

Why don't the indigenous population sell their homes to other younger members of the indigenous population for a fair price, rather than cashing in and flogging their houses for over the odds to lawyers from London?

Even smaller properties are going for ridiculous money,in some parts of Devon and Cornwall property has risen by 116%.Some properties are going for 30/40 grand above asking price

My uncle owns a Manor House with holiday lets on the grounds in Cornwall, London born and bred.
The locals hated his guts so when he wasn't letting it all collect cobwebs and living on his yacht he patrolled with a shotgun and quad bike. Interestingly he eventually struck up friendships through firearms and agricultural vehicles

This is exactly the point I heard a local estate agent making on a local radio station whilst driving through Cornwall some 5-6yrs ago, he reckons he'd sold most of the waterfront properties in St Ives, and many went to second home owners, apparently none of the locals who sold up for many times what they'd paid for their homes asked for their homes to be sold to local families at below market value. Clearly the government/s over the past 30 years should've acted to prevent the current situation, but you cannot put the blame solely at the feet of the wealthy Surrey brigade. Locals sold up and made fortunes off the back of this, perhaps they should be equally as accountable?
